QANTAS Accom for CL and WP

If QF put you up due to op reasons do CL and WP get a better grade of hotel and benefits?

CX have put me up at the Mandarin and paid a very hefty bar and laundry bill once. I was a high grade Marco polo at the time.

I did decline QF accom once in JNB as I couldnt be bothered with the admin! Checked into the airport Intercon on our own account. QF63 was late and I missed a SAA connection. Got a $150 dinner voucher when I got back to Aus.

What has been others experiences here?

I’m sure there’s been other threads that have suggested a different level of accommodation depending on class flown, but I’m not sure about status. I recall a thread about a certain QF flight not making it to ZQN and afterwards J pax were given a voucher for almost the cost of a 1-way to ZQN, while a voucher for Y pax wasn’t explained (in the thread), but was presumed to be far less.

I was a high grade Marco polo at the time.

Never had a QF flight cancelled requiring accom (touch wood), but had plenty on AA. Even though I am WP (OWE), all I have ever received is a 'discounted rate' at Double tree or equivalent. No, not even free! I think it works out about $60 USD a night, with no food vouchers or anything!

I have complained to AA each time and only ever received one domestic US voucher for $200. It is ridiculous.

I would hope QF would do better but I am guessing that everyone gets the same hotel?

I had and SYD-ADL flight cancelled one night about 4 years ago and I was WP at the time and had been for the previous 7 years. I was sent to the same hotel as all the other passengers. I did receive a $250 voucher in the mail a couple of weeks later but I don't know if anyone else did??

AA will put you up if the problem is crew/mechanical. Not for weather or other outside influence.

QF put me up in the SYD airport
Marriott when incoming from
AKL was significantly delayed. Same hotel and same food/shuttle bus deal as everyone else.
