Qantas A330-200 cabin refurbishments

I flew on EBA yesterday and the J cabin seemed fresher than I recall it being, and definitely in better shape than EBG which I was on a few weeks ago. Lighting strips above the windows seem to have been replaced and the carpets/J cabin furniture seemed a tad better. The seat mechanics also seemed to be operating more smoothly and quietly than other aircraft I've been on recently.

It came back very recently from having heavy maintenance done on it in Singapore, which may have involved stripping the cabin down and doing a deep clean and repairs, which may be why everything looks fresher.

I know this is a bit off topic, but surely there will come a time when the dreaded 737s are replaced on the East Coast run to Auckland.
A330s would be perfect – better economy configuration (e.g., not all 3x3 seating) plus much better business class and a better chance for an upgrade!

I feel like theres better odds of the 330s going transcon again to Perth than trans tasman.

The trans tasman is generally all been about better frequency and timings.

Depending on what day you fly they exist now, at least for QF149 on Thursday and QF142 Fridays to Auckland and back from Sydney. One issue limiting more is likely Jetconnect crew short haul who are trained on 737 only AFAIK.

I thought the A330s were on those routes to maintain capacity commitments QF and EK made to the ACCC when getting their partnership across the line??

ACCC released them from those commitments a few years ago I recall.
