Just wondering, are there any repercussions with using this?

I created an AA account and put in my CC with oz billing address and at the page before the actual purchase, it doesnt actually ask my for address anymore.

So is it still necessary to use that trick? or will my card simply wont work anyway e.g. will be ticketed but not purchased status for days on end till i call them?

Thanks for any help!

I finalised a booking tonight and the El Segundo address was showing - I have not needed to re-enter it for some years when logged in.

The country come up at the payment page as "United States", even though my AAdvantage details, state as California and zip code as described.

Sorry Serfty, i dont quite understand. If you put your address as Ca, El S, then why wouldn't it show US as country? Maybe i have the wrong idea of how to use the el Seg...

Basically you need to state your country of residence as USA.

Then use the address fields to indicate your real address:

13 Swanson St.
Chelsea,
Vic. 3196
Australia

Finally set your state as CA. and zip code as indicated.

This works as all is automated in the booking process and it is quite likely that no human will ever set eyes on these booking details other than you.

Yea thanks for that. Saw your post on lonsdale st, melb etc. In the back of my mind, i wondered if when you store your billing details as australian address without any us component, and when you come to purchase, it runs it straight off your AA account details without further manual billing address input, would it cause problems.... but prob safer to do it your way!

Thanks again

Bear in mind some credit card companies may see it as a potentially fraudulent transaction and temporarily pause the credit card.

Happened to me when I used the El Segundo method with my WWEDRCC.

But I haven't heard of many others with that affliction so YMMV.

Weird! How would they even know what address you used? All the card providers sees is a USD purchase via AA.

Earlier this year I made two USD502.80 purchases on my WWEDRCC one after the other. I did receive a call within 10 minutes from HSBC asking if I knew about them - I was happy to confirm.

Do you think they tried to contact you and couldn't, so blocked the card as an interim precaution?

Having posted that, the use of a psuedo USA address inn this manner when purchasing Flights on AA.com is solely at the risk of the purchaser.

That most certainly could be the case and may have no relationship with the address field data on the AA.com site.

It was a Saturday morning when I booked both flights on AA.com so nobody may have been awake to call me and it auto suspended.
The worst part about it was the card was locked until the call centre woke up on Monday morning.
