I am looking to get some new business stationary etc. made up and wasn't happy with where I went last to get it done (a little printing shop near my house). Things were cut unevenly, the cards and paper were damaged, the ink was messy etc.

My question is, where do you recommend to get professional printing done for business cards etc.? I'm a bit hesitant to use Officeworks or Vista print...

I use vista for business cards, post cards, banners etc with no issues. Go the premium cards rather than the free ones.

Vistaprint are reasonable on short run stuff. I've used them once for some free cards, but all the printing I've done over the years went to 2 printers depending on the type of job.

Kwik Copy are good too and they are everywhere

Mind you, you should've complained at your old printer if the quality was sub standard. Most reputable printers will rerun the job for you.

I agree with Hayden - unsatisfactory printing should be corrected by the printer, you're paying for a service that they haven't delivered, and they should rectify accordingly.

I've used Snap Printing and VistaPrint - both gave good quality results. Snap Printing provided a PDF of the business card for me to proof and check colour rendition - VistaPrint does the same, but you pay extra for that.

I did have a problem with my last VP run - seems the offset printing was out of alignment and ghosting appeared on the black text. I contacted them right away to explain and they printed up again for me at no charge; just a request to send them a couple of cards for them to check their QC at the facility that did my run.

Have used them again since, and no problems at all.

I had an order not show up in the designated time; they resent the order and said if the original one did show up (which it did), it was with their compliments. I've found all their stuff to be good, and usually you can get good deals so you items are free and you just pay postage. I often pay for the cheapest postage but still have the items turn up within a few days.

Thanks everyone I really do appreciate your help. The place I used last time that stuffed up the job wouldn't fix it, said there was no problem even though you couldn't read the text! They closed down a month later, so I think justice was served :D

I think I will defiantly look into Vista Print, and Kwik and compare their prices - I need quite a lot of stuff so being able to talk to them at an actual store (Kwik) might be better.

Thank you again everyone :D

I use Martin print, not over expensive, but not cheap. They are quick product is good, and things are shipped aust air express next day delivery

Depends how much you need printed.

Where I use to work we got a lot of it printed in China then air freighted over.

Quicker than the guy 5 mins from the office.

We use to e mail the PDF then they would do a sample take a photo of it and send it to us.

I could get cards done in 2 - 3 days delivered to BNE.

We would order app 10 000 cards for all the staff at a time.

Cost similar.

I can add a +1 for Snap, and if noob decided to join us on the dark side at QFF he could earn extra points for his Snap spend. Alas, being aligned to DJ he misses out :(

As for why I recommend them, my local branch (Belmont, WA in case you're interested) has always been beyond reproach. We always requested our quotes online, and I could guarantee a response in hours. For anything faster, I'd call them to say a request for quote was on the way - and they'd price it up as soon as it came in.

On turnaround time and quality, everything was perfect 1st time. When they gave us a delivery time, they either met it or were hours early - especially for short notice and urgent jobs. Output was always colour perfect, exactly as specified (and being Marketing/Comms people, that means PMS colour matching and specific paper/card stock, as well as other items like binding, punching and even the types of covers we asked for).

Getting jobs to Snap is, well, a snap. We designed our work in house and uploaded print-ready PDF files to the secure lodgement site, which were sent straight through to the branch ready for processing.

The only letdown with Snap is the process & time they take to pay out QFF points. Before you get points, you need to fill in a form (and you need a director's signature to assign the point if you're a large company or corporate) which is then transmitted to head office and recorded against your customer file. And then you have to wait anywhere from 6-8 weeks after you've paid for the points to credit to your account.

So, apart from the QFF issues, I can't speak highly enough of Snap based on the experience with my then local branch.
