Qatar Airways is removing the fee of $25/$50/$75 per segment for Y, J and F awards booked using Qmiles.

Not a huge deal, but a step in the right direction. I think this paragraph from the LoyaltyLobby article sums up the current situation with the Privilege Club program nicely:

I have a hunch that Qatar Airways may feel that they need to take some positive steps with its Privilege Club that hasn’t been a very generous program even before the last devaluation.

Good news that QR have made this move - absolutely no justification to charge what were once fuel levies when the price of aviation fuel is in the toilet.

But how can Qantas justify YQ charges on QF Award bookings flying on Qatar and who out of QF/QR gets this money?

e.g CDG-DOH $320 approx on top of 61K QFF points each way in First or Business (until last month that price was for a return, not a one way trip).

Same trip booked through AA - no YQ surcharge. :)
