Private Message limit

From memory:

Normal users have a 10 Private Message limit
Gold/Silver have a 200 Private Message limit.

In off-line conversations with various people, I've heard comments that these limits seem to be too low. I also run into my limit - and people who post certain "tips" end up with the P.M mailbox being flooded within hours!

I'm not sure how much disk space PMs take on the servers, but can't imagine it being too high compared to forum data.

As a comparison, "Gold" members at Flyertalk are allowed up to 2500 P.Ms, I think regular users have 250.

Are there any plans to increase these numbers?

I seem to be up against a 100 PM limit as a gold. I could be mistaken (again) of course.

Shame on me for not knowing, but to echo the above, yes it would be nice to have a slightly larger allowance. But will happily try to make do in any case.

Our REGULAR (ie. free membership) members can store 25 PMs
SILVER can store 100 PMs
GOLD can store 200 PMs

Vanilla Flyertalk is 500 PM's.

I personally think that the AFF regular level is way too low.

In my opinion as a Gold AFF member 200 PM's are more than enough and I do regularly cull my PM's.

Lol, entirely my fault on all levels.

I've never got anywhere close to the limit and to be honest I can't see how I could ,I delete any messages once I have read them and in the rare event that I want a copy then there is a facility to download a message to your hard drive,either as text,csv,or xml.

I've hit the limit twice before culling them all.

A slightly bigger limit couldn't put too much of a strain on the server, could it?

Probably not, but hoarding is probably not a good habit to nurture either.

I have hit the limits several times but that just encouraged me to clean out my messages. :shock:
