Well once again VA has implemented something at the front end (prioroty tagged luggage - which I know has been in for some time) but yet time and time again it appears those at the back end either can't read or do not know what priority means or have not been advised how to handle priority luggage - or maybe all 3!.

Recent trip CBR > HBR > MEL > CBR: on arrival in HBR, my bag came out after 23 other non priority pieces of luggage, In MEL mine was the last bag out - in CBR it was the first bag out (obviously CBR baggage handlers are more intelligent than the other 2 cities).

This is not the first time this has happened, More times than not, my "priority" bag seems like just any other and I would say that on at least 80% of the time, is never treated as priority.

Do others face this annoying service lapse?

I've had 100% in the last six months, ports have been OOL, AKL, MEL, PER and CNS that I've checked bags to

Luggage? What's that?

Don't you bring all 45kgs in two international sized roller bags as carry on and then need three hosties to lift into too-small bins only to have gate checked when they give up with several slipped discs ... :)

Oops sorry. That was a "charming" couple on a Mel-Syd flight on Sunday ...

On a flight from DRW - SYD travelling in J started the flight being informed no Galaxys available due to flat batteries. So was in a slightly annoyed mood after the 4hour flight so waiting for our bags was surprised they werent first out.Waited for all the bags to come out and still nothing. We waited a few more minutes and all the bags were gone and still ours were missing.About to give up when out they came out about 5mins after the first bag had appeared.
Was told later priority bags are stored seperate so all I can think was they must have been missed.Wasnt feeling the love that flight thats for sure.

The 3 flights I've had since I've been gold have been great. No issues with priority luggage at all.

I always get priority at ool 6+ times but almost never at syd. Half the time at syd it's not only not out first it's usually last! I suspect it's due to the separate storage of the bags. I'm starting to not have it priority tagged when going to syd from now on.

Everywhere else I don't usually have an issue either.

100% domestic fail rate for the past 18 months (VFF Gold). Ports are SYD, BNE, MEL and CFS. For two returns international trips in the same period, it worked on two flights. The other two my luggage was delayed for 72hrs and 48hrs respectively.

Also experiencing a poor rate of response to guest services enquiries. The replies I do get are the stock standard "we'll let the relevant people know" type deal.

Hooray VA!

My experience is that both QF and VA are quite hit and miss with this on occasions. Some locations are more consistent than others but there is no serious pattern.

Priority Luggage tags? Luxury...

The few trips this year I've had to check-in baggage, I walk away confidently/with faith that check-in staff will recognise my VFF membership, will recognise I'm using the Priority Check-in line for a reason, and actually put purple tags on for me... But with no luck. Poor form to now start reminding them... :?

And I'm about to become a Plat.; Maybe THEN I'll get tags - Else someone will have the pleasure of reading an interesting email and I'll start taking down names...

Oh, and when they did go on my bags last year, worked like a treat... Particularly in SYD, oh the trouble saved...

80+ flights this tax year as WP, think I have only had to wait twice ... kudos to baggage handlers of VA (except for the 2 times I had to wait obviously haha)

Last flight I took into MEL, two bags, one came out almost immediately, the other at the end. No idea how that happened, as they were together on the baggage cart!

If you get a set of the Priority Baggage tags, keep 'em after your flight, and just re-attach them for yourself next time prior to check-in. A bit cheeky but you're entitled to it

I have had 1 from 1 so far lol I've decided to leave them on as well. Saves the agent having to do it for me.

I've had agents take off an existing one and attach a newie, and seen it happen to many others. Not sure why but they do it.
