Hi All

I noticed that Crowne Plaza KL have two bonus points promotion running...2 nights stay for 2000 points and 5000 points for any stay in March 2009.

I plan to be in KL for 4 nights and wonder if it is possible to book the 4 nights under the two different promos..ie 2 nights at the normal rates for the 2000 points and the other 2 nights on the higher rate for the 5000 points ?

Will that be allowed and if so, will I have to swap rooms ?

Or is it in the T&Cs that only one promo per stay ?

I have heard good reports on the CP KL so am going to give it a go for my trip back in March...

Thanks in advance.

That sounds a little too tricky, and I don't think it will work without a day away between the 2 bookings (happy to be corrected though). Also, are you sure the 5000 points are worth the (likely) additional cost of the room for the 2 nights on the promo rate (often the hotels have a higher rate when bonus points are offered). Remember to factor in the additional service charge and taxes (15% in total)

I suspect this is where you'll be tripped up:
A Stay is defined as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/check-out.

That, and of course ensuring the hotel doesn't do anything crazy like merging bookings together and rates or something similar wiping out the promos.

I stayed at the KL CP only a few days ago. Any questions about the place, let me know.

Hmm..you have a good point, Mal. They could possibly merge the booking into one. And you're also right. Is 5000 points worth the extra cost ?

Can I ask what room did you stay in and was the service as expected ? Somebody told me the other day, the CP KL was originally the old Hilton Hotel before it moved to KL Sentral.

One of the reason for choosing CP KL was the location. Apparently its just outside the Raja Chulan MRT?

Any thoughts appreciated..

Cheers
PS
I also noticed Hilton are having 25% off rates at the KL Hilton as well...Tough choice to make...

I booked a King Deluxe, and as a PC Plat was given the same type of room (with a view of the Twin Towers).

The hotel is right outside the Raja Chulan Monorail stop, which makes travelling to the 'tourist hangout/shopping' areas of Bukit Bintang and area pretty easy (1 or 2 stops on the monorail depending which shopping complex you want or a ~5-10min walk. Twin towers are ~ a 10 min walk away, as is the KL Tower.

So location wise it's pretty good. There are better located high end hotels depending on what you want to do (eg the ones on Bintang Walk would be great if you're there for shopping.) From KL Sentral (if you catch the train from the airport), it should be a 9MYR+1MYR per luggage charge for a regular cab. Not sure about Premium Cab cost.

High end hotels in KL are still pretty reasonable bargains for what you get.

Hotel overall - Thought it was nice, although felt it was showing it's age a little in the bathroom. Room was clean and nice, and was just as the photos show on the Hotel homepage although my King bed was a little saggy on one side (should have called, but didn't bother).

Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on room service, bars or restaurants. A simple Concierge request was handled quickly and efficiently.

Hotel is raised from the street, so there is about a slightly inclined ~40m walk from the street to the hotel front door.

I believe they only have 'premium' cabs at the front door (not sure if you can ask for a regular cab instead?). Regular cabs I think are about 1/3 the price (Premium cabs 6MYR flagfall, increments quickly after that). As an example, caught a premium cab back to Sentral for my train back to the airport and it was 28MYR on the meter (lots of traffic jam though). A trip much further than that in a regular cab should be around 8-9 MYR.

I've stayed at the Hilton a few years ago, and enjoyed it. More modern and fresher. Particularly enjoyed the lounge when I was there. A good point about the Hilton is it's proximity to KL Sentral - but not much in that area. A short walk from KL Sentral (go down to B1 type level where the AirAsia LCC buses are and walk ~200m via a covered walkway) is the final monorail stop (Also called KL Sentral).

There is some good information about both the Hilton and CP in KL (and also KL in general) on this site in various threads, so try some searches for Sentral, Kuala Lumpur etc.

Thanks, Mal...Have decided to try both of them out. Have booked a couple of days at the Hilton and the other 2 at the CP KL..

Appreciated the comments.....
cheers
