This morning while waiting to board a plane to Sydney where the queue literally snaked its way for as far as the eye could see I noticed a handful of passengers in the Priority lane who had Gold FF tags on their bags.
Am I right in saying priority boarding privileges are for platinum and above?

Thanks

You do not know for sure that these passengers were not WP. I have the old gold tags on several bags - just haven't got round to replacing them. They may have been J anyway. But in terms of your original question - Priority board lane is for J and WP and above.

Yes priority boarding is supposed to be for business and platinum upwards. Gold bags tags are certainly indicative that people just don't care. However, as mentioned only the boarding pass gives the real story. Having said that IMO there are probably a number of gold members using the PB line on most busy flights.

Im WP but have Gold tags on some bags. I actually thought it was a Gold benefit before reading a couple of posts here this week.
Regardless, I am grateful if there is a priority lane working at all with QF. I would say only on 50% of my flights and I mainly fly SYD, MEL. I dont know why its not offered in CBR?

Not even that might help - OWE creditng flight to QF shows as Bronze on the BP but has access to the lane.

Yes true. Still I think you're trying to add another whole layer of complication by bringing OWE into this.... ;)

I did read the post in its entirety - my point is that gold tags are an indication that people don't care (i.e. are doing the wrong thing as gold members) is the bit I was highlighting as just because someone has a gold tag does not necessarily mean a) they are gold or b) they are not eligible to use the priority line as they may be business. We still have some old Flight Deck labels on some hand luggage, do have gold labels and do travel business class at times with the offending labels.
This is quibbling over pedantics so done from me.

You must have missed the bit that I've highlighted below. Basically, I said the tag is an indication of status level, however etc.

As you have just outlined that you agree with me, I have no idea why you felt the need to "beg to differ".

I try and make a real point of not judging who should or should not be in the PB lane. Firstly, it's not my place to police the queue, let's not start that one again here. Secondly, don't judge a book by its cover, or the colour of its bag tag. Could be someone with no status at all flying in J for the first time. Best just to chill and go with the flow as the worst way to start any flight is to be stressing about anything, let alone something you can't control.

I was in the 'normal' line at ADL Sunday night and was politely told by the FA at the gate that i was in the wrong line and could use the PB lane... I looked at her slightly confused seeing as though I'm just a PS, she said that as a Platinum FF I'm supposed to use PB. I'm guessing the PS and WP cards are similar? Had a bit of a giggle to myself on the way to my seat.

As for the q tags on carry on bags can someone please explain why so many people have them on bags they never have any intention of checking in (ie laptop bags etc)? Is it just to show they have a 'status'?

Yes, let's not have you start throwing around wild accusations about people policing lines. Especially, since no one around here is doing that.

You might also like to share which qantas 737s have 14 rows of business class. I'm yet to fly in one of those ones.

Priority board lane is for J and WP and above.

Yes, the Premium Boarding lane is for Business passengers, Chairmans Lounge, oneworld Emerald and Platinum members. Our ground staff and crew do all possible to monitor this as per the boarding pass presented at the gate.

Excuse the naive question, but I've just (first time ever!) qualified Platinum ...

If I, as WP, am entitled to use the PB lane, does that also cover Mrs BD when we're travelling on the same itin??

Regards,

BD
