Printing from an iPad.

Most printers with Wifi can handle it, just get them to share the same connection as your iPad

This might be a good starting point. I set up my mother's iPad to print using an AirPrint capable printer but there are other options if you don't have one.

It's easiest to just buy a new printer with AirPrint if you don't have one. Connect both to the same wifi network (ie same router) and it all "just works".

Neither of my printers are AirPrint compatible unfortunately so does not work in this case.

Good link thanks Tony. I have been researching but this link is more up to date than what I've looked at.

It is starting to look that way.

I guess the next question is whether anyone has used any of the software options such as PrintCentral or Printopia :?:

I tried them .. but it defeats the purpose as you have to leave your computer on.

I bought a new top of the line Canon (MG6360) with AirPrint and Google Cloud Print for $149 (-5% thanks to Wish Gift Cards) and sold my old Canon for $30. I could have bought a cheaper mid-range Canon for $89 or $99.. but thought I'd splurge. Google Cloud Print is not the same as AirPrint (you have to log in, give access to people etc) - but achieves similar objectives for Android users, albeit with a lot more complexity.

Officeworks have a couple of wireless printers starting at $59, might be the easiest solution.

I just bought a Fuji Xerox MFD. Not expensive and not officially Air Print but it comes with a free app that allows you to print directly to the printer from your Android or iDevice.
