I have been using this site to bid for hotels in America, Europe and Asia for a year or so. I have found significant savings and really only been treated shabily for using the site on one occassion. But the savings more than make up for it.

I notice they sell flights as well on a bid basis. Given that the LHR-NYC is soo competitive I thought about trying it out as I do not mind what time I fly and am sick of frequent flyer program restrictions on earning/spending that savings on flights is becomming more and more relevant to my thinking.

Anyone ever bid for a flight before?

I, too have used Priceline in the past to bid for hotels (in the US) and have been really happy with the price and hotels. I found biddingfortravel.com a really valuable resource for determining the best strategies people have used successfully.

Last year I purchased four flights from Newark to Barcelona via Copenhagen on SAS and got them for a song (US$328 each incl. taxes) on the ordinary website. We even got frequent flyer points!

I am also interested in other people's experiences bidding for flights.

Priceline still has problems with accepting Australian Credit cards doesn't it?

Last time I looked, you would have to fudge your address (ala AA!) to get it to accept an Australian CC. Is that still the case?

Yes, I think I fudged the address by adding a zero to the postcode. Biddingfortravel.com covers all that.
