Hey guys - I admit I don't fully understand how the price changing works with airlines over here - I figured it would be more expensive as more seats get sold but maybe i'm wrong?

Anyway so I was going to book a BNE to CNS flight for my girlfriend and it was $220 for a Saver in the week (Save Lite sold out). Yesterday when I checked - the same flight directly on Virgin site, and on Webjet etc. was now $165. Awesome - but I had to confirm something before booking so I waited. Later that evening, the same flight was $195. Today I got the confirmation that we can travel - and sods law - looked now and it's $220 like it originally was.

I know it's not a great sum, but can anyone shed any light? I could understand price going up, if it wasn't for the fact that a few days ago it was at the higher $220 mark, then dropped, then went back up, twice!

Airline sets base price - $220
Qantas introduce a Cairns sale Thursday - DJ match with their sale with a lead in price of $165
Sale sells a few seats so next sale bucket is $195
Sale ends last night, back to non sale base.

Perfect explanation! Wasn't aware of sale. Mind you glv25 code prob wouldn't have worked on sale so not too bad

Qantas have extended the sale, maybe wait until VA wake up?
