Price difference between mobile and Normal platforms

Have been checking prices for a Qatar trip to New York in business. Was getting around $8850 and that seemed quite reasonable, so gave the details to my friendly TA to book. He couldn’t get it as cheap as that and asked me for a screenshot. Had been using my IPad, but decided to go and do it from the desktop.

The price for exactly the same flights was $500 more. Eventually my TA tried as well on his mobile and yes two totally different prices depending on whether you went through the mobile path or the full site. He said it was a valid fare (and very fortunately for me, matched it).

Anyone noticed this or know why? Seems quite bizarre to me!

Price discrimination in action is my guess!

I wonder how many airlines charge different prices depending on the device you're using to search for flights? I've certainly heard of some charging higher fares to customers searching for flights on Apple devices.

I wonder how many airlines charge different prices depending on the device you're using to search for flights? I've certainly heard of some charging higher fares to customers searching for flights on Apple devices.

In this case I was getting lower prices on my Apple devices . Although Mr FM tried doing a search on his android and also got the lower price, so very much mobile vs desk top.

I have heard of cookies being set so that the price increases when you come back again.

I will always search on both devices in future!

yes that’s interesting. They need to improve both their app and the mobile platform. Multi city just didn’t work and there was no way to be able to do a stopover, without it. I could do multicity on my desktop.
