Prediction re: Qantas International Sale (USA RT)

I am looking at Premium Econ fares for a trip that starts early April (bridges the school holidays in that it would commence prior and return in the middle of - dates are fixed). It is just so $$ - so much more than I am used to. So, am wondering what people's predictions are re: sales? any hope?

I would prefer to fly Qantas as I haven't yet given up on chasing the Platinum renewal every year although I am close to giving up now that I have lifetime gold!

Almost every other member has more experience than I … however, with the way the industry is currently running (at least WRT & in/out of Straya) I can’t see a sale being worth Qantas’ while, except maybe as a PR stunt. The demand’s higher than they can supply, and sales are supposed to embiggen demand.

Not to mention sales almost never (particularly in recent times) include Aus school holiday dates.

If you want a better price, I think you'll need to look at other airlines.

To add to the other comments, you should not expect pre-COVID prices to come back anytime soon on Qantas.

They've been very public in announcing that they're raising international fares by 20% to meet rising fuel costs.

Inflation & the falling Australian dollar mean that even as capacity improves, travel is not going back to 2019 prices.

I am trying to book a flight to San Fran in January and naturally being a QF Plat I thought I would see what QF were doing. So the price of over $26,000 buisness class is more than the 20% price increase suggested. Unfortunately or fortunately it will be Singapore Airlines at $12,600. Shame we can't support our national carrier.

According to Geoffrey Thomas (sigh) QF is very popular and a great airline. I, myself, would look to fly someone else especially at the prices they are currently trying to shake out.

Why not consider going via Asia?

I think the way to get the best price on QF is to book early, don't wait for a sale.

Trans pacific is a popular route and while demand is high I can't see why they would have a sale.

Yep working for a TMC i can tell you those $26,000 seats are being snapped up
QF has no need to discount trans pacific at the moment.

62 cents to the dollar. I think airfares are only a minor cost compared to accommodation etc
