Hi All,

About a month ago I used QFF points for seat selection on a 4 pax booking I had.
I only had enough points left to select seats on one leg.
The seats show up in my booking with the word (paid) next to the seat number.

The points have never been deducted from my account.

Will these points be deducted at a later time?

Thanks

Craig

Had a similar thing happen to me for a flight to LHR about 4 years ago. Points were never deducted.

And you are letting us know why?

1) I don't want to get to the airport and find I have to pay for the seats, as I may no longer have enough points to cover seat selection.

2) Although it appears the seats have been allocated. I don't want to get to the airport and find out they have not.

Whilst I don't think you have got what I am hinting at, once you are at the airport, you won't be charged for seat selection at check-in. The other thing is seat selection isn't guaranteed (paid or not), so there is still a slight chance you may be moved.

As bam has mentioned...
Somethings better left unsaid. :D

I had this happen to me not long ago .........and had the seat selection at the airport no hitch

Use the points again for seat selection on the other leg.
Then they can't be deducted twice.
And you will get at least one set of seat allocation no matter what, maybe two.
Who knows you might even score both for free!

I got lucky with points failing to deduct a couple of years ago --- not seat selection but thought it was relevant. Flight from London back to Aus, requested J using points but only got Premium Economy. Noticed a few days after flying that the booking was still on my list and the points had not been deducted. The flight date was now listed as six months into the future but all details were greyed out. Just waited the six months and figured the points would be subtracted then. They never were! I think it saved around 50,000.

I often have a similar situation with old bookings hanging around on my account on the QF website.
Weird.

I also had a lucky break with points last year with VA.
Asked for a points upgrade at the lounge. Left my boarding pass in the capable hands of the lounge staff.
Was called back a little bit later to pick up my new boarding pass. Flew in J.
Points were never deducted.
I think on that occasion the flight may have been overbooked so I effectively received an opup.
But it was certainly a welcome bonus.

Just tried that, but the option to pay with points for seats on the other leg doesn't appear.
But they will accept money.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

We appreciate how much our members approve of all the enhancements to Qantas, and how much Simpler & Easier it is to calculate points and SC earns. Of course we know you all like the pricing of seat choices, and understand the never ending costs that QF has to pass on.

In this instance, we are sorry that we have failed to live up to our usual standard of service. Please accept our apologies. If you'd like to pm your personal details and itinerary, we will be pleased to rectify this error. In recognition of our failure, as a once off gesture, we will subtract an additional 20,000 points. Per passenger.

We hope this satisfactorily rewards you for your loyalty, and we look forward to your ongoing custom with QF.

(while Red Roo's away, the mice will play :) )

Once had a failed booking and was not paid up .... Somehow points were allocated for the first sector.
