To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

Had a great experience today to show the system works well.

Rang plat line to do awards booking, F on QF93 & J on QF94 MEL-LAX-MEL in may for SWMBO to meet me in the USA for a week. Plat line rang SST & the had the seats released, all in 10 minutes, ticket issues about 10 minutes later. Checked points balance & there was the 6000 point award booking fee deducted, rang Plat line again, got transfered to SST & confirmed the points were taken out by mistake & they will be added back to my account promptly (which they were about 20 minutes later) got talking to the lovely lady at the SST & had a good conversation, she mentioned there are about 3500 P1 member now. Always a pleasure talking to them.

Good work dany09.

awilcockson - guess my hints for F1 fell on deaf ears - will have to hope for some special dining event at the good food show like last year with manu.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

I've tickets for GP from SST.

We had them last year but I used the Mercedes star lounge for race day. I took straightman to the Mark Webber meet and greet though as my son had tickets already and +1 wasn't interested.

Simon. If you don't get an invite I will probably have a spare ticket for Sunday. Either with Qantas or Mercedes. Just email me.

Ay me! for aught that ever I could read, could ever hear by tale or history, the course of true love never did run smooth.:-|

I flew,
long haul, 50% of my life last year, wherever possible with Qantas, on NGO-budget cheapest seats I can manage. That's my world. Even if many of you fly far less than me, I still only barely qualify for platinum. I don't want to know about your upgrades and special treatment. I also don't want to hear about my colleagues who fly Cathay and Emirates on similar or lower status and get upgraded at least one leg on every flight.

I still
appreciate the treatment I do get from qantas. It's ok, I get it. It's not how faithful I am, for her (Qantas) it's (budget) size that counts.

Looking forward to chatting to 2 P1 members at a certain function at the BNE QC on Saturday ;)...and getting their experiences.

Question: When a FA makes the effort to come down and greet a WP or WP1 in Y personally by name and ask "Can I get you a drink" - if you say "Yes, that would be lovely - a scotch and soda please". Is it complimentary or should I have money ready?

Should be complimentary.

Are drinks not free in economy?

Serious question.

Would have been nice to see any cabin crew on tonight's flight... When you still have your tray on a not full flight when the captain says "prepare the cabin for landing" you know the crew have been cough. Add to that IFE and PEDs switched off with 25 mins to go on a 90 min flight and you have one unhappy camper...

Jeez bossreggie, you are such a shocker! "are drinks not free in economy.........?"
I just love your tactless innocence!!! :)
I have to say, I can't help you with that question either, since I haven't been down the back in the last 4 years (unless you count MEL-CBR at 08.00 last July, which was so full of suits I thought I was at the Telstra AGM).
Why don't you ask Cove?

Depending on time of day and route.
eg - Transcon (East Coast -> West Cost) they are free.

Cityflyer flights - on weekdays they are, not on weekends.

I could (probably am) wrong though.

And all of that only applies to beer and wine not spirits.
