To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

i must be confused myself. Yes I did drop back. But it was already due to C19 issues. Several international flights cancelled due to uncertainty and cancelled events. My last international flights per normal were 8th of January after that it started falling apart with flight cancellations last minute changes. On a tight schedule it was impossible to to accomodate these changes. And keep up with SC required. That’s what I am saying. It would have been nice if qantas had extended not the downgrade but the the previous P1 level. First world problems I know cheers ;)

I understand and it is annoying because yes, other parts of the world (ie Asia) were more well aware of and dealing with this before Oz and the US caught up.

I guess, like the people who missed out with the status extensions (ie the ones who had already renewed status or had March membership anniversaries) this is just an unfortunate problem with the system.

And I sympathise with your situation but where should QF draw the line with the extensions?

now I *suppose* you could contact the SST with your particular cancelled trip PNR references and explaining and asking for a review.... I guess there's no harm in trying? I don't know.

Received the Qantas magazine today, qftravelinsider Instagram post mentions the May issue magazine was sent to 40,000 P1’s, has the number of P1’s been confirmed before?

I'm 99% confident that number is waaaaay off. Last number I had heard (from the P1 team) was around 4000 P1s.

Roughly:
60k WP
120k SG

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I wonder what decides a 'select' WPFF? Maybe those who get over 2400 SCs each year? I can't provide any data points as it seems only one per household is sent out

Yup correct, ~4000 P1s (heard it directly from a senior manager at a P1 function). Interestingly there's about 2x as many CLs.

I heard CL was limited to 7000 at one stage, not sure where of course.

Either way, that still leaves a lot of WP's getting this magazine!

Still waiting to hear their plans to look after FFs who didn't benefit from the first round of status extensions.

Have missed out on 3-4 months of current year's benefits, and will likely miss out on 3-4 of the new year (start of June) for which I had already requalified. Poor form.

The $50 off wine purchase is good, but I would have preferred: "As one of our most valued frequent flyer we have decided to process your refund claims for cancelled bookings in priority" :p

A lowly WP received a $40 voucher. Therefore QFF values you by only $10 more :)

With a number of agents WFH they seem to be more open with information. When I was last on the phone the agent freely advised that there is between 3,500-4,000 P1s and about 7,000 CLs and then stated given the CL +1's there is easily x2 CL for each P1. The agent also mentioned that there is around 70,000 - 75,000 WP in the QFF program.

Now completely off topic - for the P1's that have been around for a while, in either the 2nd or 3rd P1 briefing there was the interview with some Lego chap and I am wondering if this is the same chap who is on that channel 9 lego show? I seem to recall @JessicaTam mentioned there was a Lego Guy that was once was a member of this site or maybe it was just a username. For the record I am not into lego, just curious what happens to former P1's.
