Well I had to share the news of this morning - my Qantas FF summary informed me that I am QFF Platinum (to add to my current VA/Velocity Platinum). I will pick up the additional Platinum benefit in a couple of months (meaning I'll match my VA earn, as I got to gift a Gold to a friend in Dec 13). Not sure if I'll break P1 (I've never been a P1 before) or not before end of membership year, but I'm not too fussed either way.

Intend to stick with VA for nearly all my domestics, with QF/OW for most of the international travel.

Congrats! I have been Platinum double for two years but it looks like that i will lose VA in September. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Thanks Boris spatsky - I like that being Platinum in both schemes just means more choice and less downsides. Always a good thing. And you are an LTS too, also something I just acquired - at least I'll never lose that one lol

Well done K

VA easier to maintain than QF

current staus for me is
VA need 715 to requal by sep14
QF need 570 to requal by jul14 current LTS with 9070 SC may make LTG by time I retire ;-)

Thanks boylero - yes it is a good reason why VA Platinum worth going for, it's easy to keep and retain (even if Gold is the sweet spot).

LTG is attractive to shoot for, but I'm not in any hurry - it'll just keep me throwing some business to Qantas where it makes sense to do so.

Congratulations on a good achievement.

I can probably earn Platinum on both Qantas and Virgin but flying on cheap airfares I couldn't possibly survive ~80 VA flights/year needed for Platinum. I struggle to make VA Gold and this year the same as last year will require a shortcut.

I managed nearly 2 years with Platinum on both and lost VA Plat in September. The only downside was the loss of row 3 and the upgrades. Now thanks to the wonder that is family pooling, I'm VA Plat again after SQ flights to JNB via SIN.

Essentially, any family holiday now tends to be on VA due to both me and Mrs Tooner being platinum on VA and the family pooling.
