ii) with American Express Membership Rewards points; or
iii) with any other travel rewards or frequent flyer points provided the taxes and/or surcharges have been charged to Your American Express Platinum Card Account.

I am on usdm ticket. The taxes were paid using my Amex plat charge card.
Am I covered?

Personally I would not rely on it any more.

Once upon a time it was OK but that all changed a couple of years ago. Have a look in AFF history as there is a lot of info about this.

I have already started my trip, so will have to stick with Amex this time.


My bags are delayed, still don't have them after 12 hrs, so need to claim travel inconvenience.


The text from t&c makes no mention of the source of ff points. So my understanding is as long as the taxes have been paid using my Amex, I should be covered.


Does anyone have any recent experience with this scenario?

Also don't forget you are covered if the provider does not accept AMEX... e.g. if you fly Tigerair or Scoot or AirAsia, see below from T&Cs

American Express Not Accepted
Cover is effective if You cannot pay the full fare for a Trip on Your
American Express Platinum Card Account because the provider does
not accept American Express as a form of payment. You must be able to
supply proof of purchase and the name and address of the provider who
would not accept your American Express Platinum Card Account

I hope you asked for money when the bags didnt come.
i got 300 US for a first class delay on BA. then I got them to pay $A1800 for full clothing when the bags didnt come for a week.
took me a while to get the cash but threathend and then a cheque arrived.
I was a First class RTW award pax.
