Details are still emerging about the cause of the Peruvian Airlines accident at Francisco Carle Airport but social media videos and images show the aircraft badly damaged near the runway.

Interesting that youre not seeing a lot of people with their carry-on, in comparison to some US planes that have been emergency evac.

I also would be moving a lot further away from the plane thats on fire - way too close for my comfort.

Interestingly the airport is at an altitude of 11000feet or 3300m.
I think landing speed higher at such altitudes???

Yes, that's correct. Higher altitude = lower air density. This provides less lift at any given airspeed. To compensate, aircraft need to land at faster speeds to avoid stalling.
