Now you gave me 3 months to earn 80 points.....but done with 1 month
So do I need to earn the points to retain within 12 months starting now or from the end of the 3 months period?

What does your online status say...

I suspect they have extended your membership for three months, and then will review at the end of that period, but could be totally wrong.

VFF was online today at 1201 and last posted yesterday at 1424.

Pilot Gold lasts the 3 months, and then you are reviewed during your period between review date and expiry date.

I started with VA on the pilot gold program and also had a similar story to yours.

I'm also pretty sure any status credits earnt now will not count until after the review?

I understand the program well except for status points after I achieve the 80. (And yes I too notice velocity had been online answering other questions. )
So I called velocity last night and have confirmation that all status credits dissappear at the end of 3 months. Ie There is no point in earning more, they don't help renewing or going for platinum etc. so some international business class trips next month it's almost better to fly qantas so I might be able to maintain gold with them

But I am leaning towards virgin after they were kind enough to give gold status with the accelerate program
Just wish status points didn't go down the drain
