So with only 1 flight a day on QF metal ex PER on QFI and with both EK and QF having a lounge there what's the go eventually? To further complicate MH have a lounge in PER as well.

I guess Jetstar have flights where some people could use QF lounge, but I couldn't see QFI giving a cough about having a lounge for that.

Technically I could use all three lounges when flying on a QF Emirates bound flight. Not that the lounges opening hours would probably suit all flights.

Curious as to what their long term strategy could be.

QF apparently have others who use the lounge, so provided this continues, I would guess it would stay for the time being

The QF lounge is used by SA and CX, among others.

I think QF would have a hard time justifying the closure of the lounge given the large number of JQ flights.

If flying on a QF-coded EK flight, you would only have access to the EK and QF lounges, not MH.

On an MH flight what lounges would you be able to access as Gold?

I think all 3 is the correct answer, but I'm so confused by the changes tbh.

i don't think you would be able to use the EK lounge

thanks danger - are you sure on the QF coded Ek flight? - if I have a QF coded flight I should be able to use any one world lounge as per normal. I cant see why this would change.

i agree, iwas wondering with the exception of JQ everyone else could use the MH lounge. If they did consolidate hopefully they close the MH lounge as its cough. I find the situation interesting as the amount of options open to the parties involved is many.

EK is not in oneworld. The arrangement between EK and QF is standalone and separate to oneworld.

On a QF-coded flight, as a Qantas Club, Gold or Platinum FF, you may access the EK and QF lounges. In such a situation your flight is not operated by a oneworld carrier. The oneworld lounge access rules state that you must be travelling on a oneworld marketed and operated flight. So, for example, the QF code on the SA-operated PER-JNB flight does not include access to the MH lounge. However, the BA code on the QF-operated PER-SIN flight would allow access to both the QF and MH lounges, as the flight is marketed and operated by a oneworld carrier.

Lounge access rules are in no way straight forward, unfortunately.

To use the OneWorld status eligibility for lounge access, the flight must be Marketed and Operated by a OneWorld airline. So an EK-operated flight does not meet this requirement. So on a QF code, operated by EK, there is no access to the MH lounge.

NZ also use the QP, which should help it from closing, especially since they are increasing flights.

I'd say that anything that happens will be dictated by the timelines on the terminal 1 departure expansion projects. I can't imagine the airlines will be throwing much money at the existing facilities, when there are changes afoot at the airport.

Thanks guys, one world lounge access makes sense now - marketed and operated...

Yeah, flying Thai out of Perth last year (and again this year on USDM), they used the QP as well...

Are J pax on the VA codeshare flights operated by NZ to AKL (and CHC, at year end) permitted access to the PER QP?
