Recently back from 2 international trips, and since the new passport control baggage claim has opened the smart gates work for me and my priority tagged luggage has been in the first 10 bags out!

Smartgate has never worked for me before, in over 30-40 attempts at 3 Australian airports. This time it worked straight away, and gives me hope that it isn't actually my dud passport causing problems.

The customs/immigration areas have had no queues and been very quick to pass, and the priority baggage actually worked.

I'd be interested to hear if it worked for others too, or if I have just had 2 fluke-y arrivals. Both have been QF78 on a sunday at almost midnight...

No. Smart gate worked fine twice in Auckland, gt to Perth, no such luck. This was after sitting on the tarmac for 40 minutes waiting for a gate to become available. Then waited 50 minutes for bags to come out. The kicker was 1 customs counter open checking bags.

Flew into Perth last saturday night on qf78 from Singapore off the plane into taxi within 20 min smart gate and everything elseGREAT
