Hi All,

Thought I'd tap into the collective wisdom and experience of the board. Flying into Perth in July at 01:00 (international inbound), then flying out to Sydney at around 14:00. Any recommendations for hotels near (within 10 km) of the airport? I don't think I'll be able to sit around the airport at Perth for 12 hours. I have lounge access, but I can't imagine that I could cope hanging around the Qantas Club for that long, or that it would necessarily be open at that time of the morning.

Thanks for any advice on this matter...

Around 7 years ago I stayed a few nights at the Inter City Motel (now called Country Comfort Inter City Apartment Hotel or somesuch) and found it quite adequate/pleasant enough. It is close to the domestic terminal (maybe 2 or 3 km) and offers a free (I think) shuttle to/from the domestic terminal (best check, and I've read you need to be quite conservative with your timing as the shuttle can be late picking you up). It's on wotif and doubtless would be on trip advisor for reviews etc.

Perth CBD (and Burswood) is probably within 10km of the airport if you're looking for high end accommodation.

The Intercontinental and Holiday Inn hotels at Burswood are not too far from Perth Domestic and are about a 10 minute cab ride away

Haven't stayed at any of the hotels near the airport (tend to just keep driving home), but the Quest Apartments on Great Eastern Highway have opened quite recently and are 1-2km from the domestic terminal. Ascot Quays apartments a bit further down the road also opened in the last few years and look nice from the outside. You'll probably be better off taking the advice of someone who has done more than see these places as they drive past...

Holiday Inn at Burswood would be a good option. Close to Int/Domestic terminals. Also gives you the chance to hit the Casino tables if you can't sleep ;)

Perth CBD is only 15 mins from the domestic airport so take your pick. I reccomend the Sebel residence in East perth. Nice apartments anda great place to wake up if you get a river facing room. Also has a 24 hour convenience store over the road if you need anything.

There certainly won't be a lounge open overnight at the airport.

There are several hotels not far from the domestic, but have never really had a need to stay in them, so can't comment on that. Like mos I have driven past them...

The Burswood hotels are close, but these days can have some pretty nutty pricing. The Hyatt and Crowne Plaza are across the causeway as well, and can sometimes offer cheaper options (given the times you will be there!)

Thanks guys, I'll look into the recommendations. I chose to fly back from the Indian Ocean via Perth, as I figured it'd be cheaper than backtracking through Singapore, but when I looked at the arrival and departure times, I realised I'd need somewhere to crash for a while.

Burswood have specials after midnight, $90 a room on a standby basis for those that have had to much hospitality!

You should be aware however that many weeknights a lot of Perth hotels are full so stand by deals are risky if you're not willing to try a couple of options.

From previous experience there are some cheap deals at the Sheraton on weekends when the hotel is half empty and the Crowne, as someone else mentioned on weekends can be very cheap.
