Hi everyone,

I've Just ticketed couple of award fares for my family members. I have used my miles and paid for the taxes. My family members asked if I need to be present or give them my CC, because they are scared of being denied boarding.

The awards are now ticketed. I told them There is nothing to worry about, but they insist on getting clarification.

Any comments?

I've only ever been asked for my CC when flying with CX and going through HKG. Never on QF. However, if the trip begins at BKK it may be a requirement and if so it would have been advised at the time of booking.

They flying CX SIN-HKG-JFK return. Maybe I'll give them my CC. Nothing was advised at time of booking on AA.

I've been looking at Qantas award flights out of Hong Kong and every time there has been a warning before proceeding to see available flights that the credit card used will need to be presented at the Office in Hong Kong or at checkin. I didn't need to be travelling though.
Because the warning was shown before the actual carrier then it might apply whether QF or Cathay.

I've just paid today for that flight outright and I saw a similar message but at a different time in the booking and flying with Qantas. A380 J - so loving that. Also put in a cheeky upgrade request to F. I have no chance but what the heck.

I was asked to present my credit card last month when flying Adelaide to Singapore on SQ. That credit card had been cancelled months ago because of fraud but I did remember to bring it.

Okay so they should be able to present much credit card but I Don't actually need to be flying?

Thanks for the feedback.

Yup. That's my (several times OC checking) of it. In my SQ case, that card wasn't even active.

You could try again using HK as the first departure point and see it yourself.

They have nothing to worry about.

This is an American Airlines booking so comment about Qantas, Cathay or any other carrier needing a CC sighted are irrelevant.

Being an AAdvantage award, once paid and ticketed, the CC is no longer an issue.

All they need to do is front up at checking in the correct time frame, with the correct travel documents and off they go.

As I indicated, no CC sighting is needed.

Where does it say it's an AA booking?

All good then. :) I tend to respond to the initial question and as I was doing a very similar thing just yesterday (and the SQ thing 2 weeks ago) that was fresh in my mind.

You wouldn't need to worry about presenting the credit card unless a clear warning was given when you did the booking. So if you hadn't been drinking when you made the booking, and you saw no warning, then you wouldn't need to present the card. Whilst some airlines want the card to be sighted at check-in (or in the case of Qantas award flights originating from some destinations like Thailand & China, to be presented at their local office) they all give you clear warning of this when doing the booking.
