I hope this is the right place to ask this question, please forgive me if it's in the wrong place or has been asked in the past.

My wife and I are travelling to Canada for a White Christmas and then travelling into the US for a few weeks. We will be in Orlando for 9 days and want to do the usual Disney World and Universal Parks thing. My question for those who may have done it is, is it better to buy the park tickets here in Aus or wait till we get to Orlando. Has anyone purchased tickets here and if so could you please advise through what site. Any other advice or recommendations you can offer would be most greatfully appreciated.

After Orlando we head to New York for 6 days and I was told about a New York Pass, has anyone had first hand experience with this pass. Good or bad, buy here or there? Once again all advice appreciated.

Cheers

Re: Park Ticket Help

Bill,

There is a guy who rents out season passes as well. Alot cheaper.

See if you can dig up some research on google or others may know about this caper.

there are a few tricks to Orlando, what to do and see and others will chime in here. The crowds can be horrendous at the wrong times. Avoind school holidays if you can.

Hi Bill,

I just recently returned from Orlando & NY. I purchased the DW & Universal tickets online before we left. The DW tickets I definately purchased from Mousesavers.com. I need to check my work email to see where I got the Universal tickets from, but could also have been Mousesavers. I signed up to the monthly newsletter, which has specials for accommodation and the like.

We chose to explore New York at our own leisure, but purchased Broadway show tickets (Jersey Boys) from a special offered on Facebook for half price and got baseball tickets off Stubhub, both online in Oz.

Happy to help if you have any other questions.

Cheers guys, appreciate the input. I'll certainly see what I can find out about ticket rentals Spruce. Rob, thanks for the link, I've had a quick squizz and it certainly looks comprehensive, more research :)

Cheers

Bill

Bill,

Ticket Rentals are available on the US Ebay site (don't show up on ebay.com.au).
Drop the au from ebay.com and they will appear.

Kev

yes definately get the new york pass, you go to the top of the queue.

Do it all online before you go.

NYC is a great place plenty to see and do.

Plan your shopping till last.

there are some big premuium outlet stores.

The cheap stuff is counter seasonal.

Remember the yanks live for vouchers. they have vouchers for everything. dont be shy to ask for a voucher before you conclude a sale.

Macys has the 10% off card for international tourists, again reseach this online.

Where are you staying on NYC?

there are cheap thearte tickets onsale there as well, times square.

Personally i like the Intercon times sq, so conveneient on a few subways and walking distance across to say 5th ave.

Another for Orlando is orlandoattractions.com. That combined with MouseSavers appear to be the two best.

Two years ago when we used them their prices were exceptional and their service was amazing also. The Disney & Universal tickets we bought looked to be only available for UK residents but that was not the case at all.

it is also possible to get good discounts to the Disney theme accommodations by googling Disney Vacations and buying accommodation entitlements that are going to lapse in the near future. There are also numerous timeshare resorts in the area if you have that available as an option.

A rental car is almost a necessity unless you are staying at the Disney theme accommodations. As someone else mentioned it is very important to consider the time of year you visit due the crowds.

Spruce,Thommo, apparently those "rental" tickets are illegal and there's a bit of a stink over them. Think I'll leave that option alone. Thanks for the info though.

Spruce, we're staying at the Waldorf Astoria 5th Ave. in NYC and the good wife plans on doing some serious shopping and wants to do the Broadway experience as well.

Bill, thanks for the extra link to tickets, I'll research there also. We'll be based at Universal Portofino Bay Resort from 28 Dec to 3 Jan then roaming around till 6 Jan. We have a car, so no issues getting around. Do you have any idea what the crowds will be like at that time of the year?

I haven't posted much here but it's a fantastic site and the members are so willing to pass on any advice/info to help others. Thank you all so much and keep up the great work.

Cheers

Bill.
