Hi there

Have 3 nights in Paris as a part of a big Europe trip coming up in July and yup you guessed it struggling to find some decent accom at a reasonable price!

Looking for something relatively central or close to transport... Near some cool cafes / rests that don't charge thru the nose too :)

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Rather than hotels, I would be suggesting a look at apartments-I realise this is in the new "destination guide" section but there are a lot of old threads in the forum with some great suggestions

Stayed at Hôtel Régence Etoile last year - found on tripadvisor and v good value within a block or so of Arc de Triomphe.
Highly recommend.

Couple of years earlier stayed at Hôtel des Chevaliers which is in the Marais, down near the Bastille. Well located, probably a bit more expensive, but happy to recommend also.

Love Paris!

I stayed at the Europe St Severin a few weeks ago. Smallish hotel but right in the middle of the Latin quarter. Plenty of cheap but good restaurants around and a few minutes from both the Metro and RER. Friendly staff and rated well on TripAdvisor. It's an older hotel and lacks a few of the creature comforts of the newer ones, but good value nevertheless.

My recent stays have either been in an a apartment (family trips) or the higher $$ range (work trips) however, when I was younger I have stayed in three different hotels located along Rue Jacob rue jacob paris - Google Maps

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of my stays at this location & there are very many hotels in all $$ ranges. You are right in the thick of things for sightseeing, museums, restaurants, cafe, bars, transport etc.

IMO, you can't go wrong staying in this area.

Stayed recently next to Notre Dam Cathedral in an apartment close to Metro and Main Line Trains - lots of cafes etc. Try "Special Apartments" for great service - and a one bedroom cheaper than an Hotel - lots of character and local colour. Busy during the day but "full on" Paris at Night.

Hi there recently spent 9 nights in Paris and booked through Jean Francois Ropero www.accommodationparis.com we chose the Louvre Duplex and the location was brilliant for transport and loads of cafes, restaurants, patticeries and supermarkets close by. Apartment sleeps 4 and we paid less than 120.00 euros a night. Definitley not a 4 or 5* property but great value for money and you could self cater too.

You really need to define what "reasonable price" means for you - it means very different things to different people :)

That aside, if 200 - 250 EUR/night fits your budget, I strongly recommend that you have a look at Hotel Recamier: ~ Hôtel Récamier - Hôtel luxe Paris : Boutique Hotel Paris - Hôtel luxe Saint Germain des Prés hotel charme paris - SITE OFFICIEL - OFFICIAL WEBSITE and https://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=H...Paris,+Île-de-France,+France&t=m&z=15&iwloc=A

It's a small boutique hotel in the middle of St Germain, which is an excellent part of Paris to stay in as a tourist: "old Paris" feel, lots of cool cafes, restaurants and shops nearby, a short walk to Notre Dame, the Lourve, Hotels des Invalides and Luxembourg Palace / Gardens, and slightly longer walk / short train ride to the Eiffel Tower / Champs Elysees / etc. Personally I much prefer the area around St Germain to Champs Elysees / Lourve and surrounds: it's quieter, less touristy and just as convenient.

As for the hotel itself, it's definitely "boutique" - small number of rooms and no shared amenities except a cozy lounge / breakfast area, but recently renovated and nicely decorated. The rooms are also quite small, but more than made up for by the fact that most (all?) have windows looking out over Place Saint Sulpice.

Hope that helps... I stayed there last August and will be back this coming August for a few days.

I wasn't too impressed with most of the hotels I stayed at in Paris, but Le Méridien Etoile was pretty good, in a nice area with transport nearby and easily walking distance from Champs-Élysées. Might be a bit expensive if booking for a stay so soon though. Someone above mentioned staying in a B&B - I did this also through Petite Paris in Apartment 241 on Île Saint-Louis - it was absolutely gorgeous and the host was brilliant! I would recommend that if you want to go down that path. :)

Thanks all very much I'll jump on and research all the suggestions tonight!

I don't plan on doing anything in the hotel except crashing so not after anything crazy good.

Wanted to thank contributors to this thread. Planning a trip for next year and the recommendations here have helped get me started. Knew Paris was going to be expensive, but was staring at 400-500e a night and wondering ... some great suggestions here though at a far more reasonable 200-250e

We are staying at Magda Etoile in July which is near the Arc de Triomphe. Has had excellent reviews on Trip Advisor.

You can definitely get something nice in Paris for 200-250 Euro/night - no need to spend 400+ Euro/night. Just don't expect your room to be all that big in this sort of price range - it should be nice, but will be small. As I said earlier in this thread I can't recommend Hotel Recamier highly enough, both for value and location.
