Ummmm .. yes, Paris. I have a few days there in June and, having been there many times, am looking for some different things.

Wondering if anyone knows about / can recommend small group 'specialist' tours in Paris. History beyond the obvious things, for instance. 'Churches and Cathedrals of Paris'. 'The Revolution'. 'Cemeteries'. (not food)

I'm also looking at this Seine cruise - anything similar recommended? Thinking of booking 2 days, week or so apart and cancellable, to get best weather.
 
Have you done a Catacombs and/or sewer tour?
A little bit creepy but learnt a fair bit and had a decent time.
We did a Sein River cruise and used a mob called Bateaux Parisiens, was for a special event so we forked out for one of the expensive packages but had private table for two at the very front of the boat with great views and the food was superb. Well worth it if you want to treat yourself. They had far cheaper packages but you are seated on larger group tables and didn’t look like the views would have been anywhere near as good

Another amazing experience I did on my last trip was visit Sainte Chapelle, especially on a sunny day with the light filtering through most beautiful stained glass windows, and the wonderful tiled floor. I think you may have to now book tickets ahead.

Paris is my favourite city in the world I have been 8 times and I will be returning for my 9th in September!
 
I know I'm weird, and this isn't for everyone, but I loved my time at the Mundolingua: the Museum of Language. It has everything from a genuine Enigma Machine to endless interactive displays about every aspect of language and linguistics.

Like I said, I'm weird. But if you're a museum junkie like me, or if you simply like thinking about writing and speaking, you'll love this.

(Disclaimer: I would have stayed there for considerably longer than the three hours I was there, but my wife was bored out of her brain....!)

Shame you’re not here now while I am. I run private tours of churches in Paris whenever I’m town each year and I’d have been more than happy to have given you one free of charge.

If you are into photography then I can highly recommend Aperture Tours | Photography Guided Tours around the globe. They offer private tours with a professional photographer who will provide tuition in photography according to your level (beginner through to experienced) throughout the tour. They operate around the world, but Paris is their home base. They also do (or have in the past) day tours to Giverney and overnight tours to Mont Saint Michel.
 
Have seen Chartres in the past -too long ago but I’m afraid everything only gets one visit, 😊 except Notre Dame

my first two days in Paris will be straight off the plane from Singapore so I won’t be planning anything too elaborate, just tootling around the city seeing things I’ve missed before and, per the OP small tours would be ideal so I don’t have to think too much.

A bit more time on the back end of the trip on my way out.
 
Some ideas below -

Check out Reims - easy day tour and you can also check many Champagne domains - it's a nice day out.

Versailles ? The Domain is quite large - many things to see apart from the main Castle.

Fontainebleau's Palace is also a nice place to visit.
Domaine de Sceau is also a nice trip out and its Castle.

Monnaie de Paris is one of my favourite museum - used to go often - their exhibitions are also of high quality.

St Germain en Laye could also be a possibility.
Guimet's art museum also good.
 
Thanks @Thibault . No interest in Champagne :oops: and done Versailles and Fontainebleau before. Just after some laid back small group tours for a few days in Paris. Am heading out to the Loire to see a few piles on another part of the trip.

St Germain en Laye now on the list for another time. :)

Not sure if this is of interest.
Husband wanted to retrace his great uncle who died at Bullicort. This was a powerful experience with an incredible guide. We gave him the details of our ancestor and he found so much detail, places he fought, name on memorial wall (he did not have a grave). Train out of Paris to Amiens

As an Australian with no ancestors in the wars (2nd gen) I found the experience profound
