Hi everyone,

Just planning a bit of a quicky around the world at the end of the year and have been trying to find the best itinerary possible.
I'm trying to keep most flights on one world carriers for points/status credits

At the moment Im looking at:

Brisbane->Frankfurt Sept 19
Frankfurt>Madrid Sept 29
Madrid>London Oct 5
London>Miami Oct 5
Miami<->Panama City Oct 7
Miami>Las Vegas Oct 11
Vegas>Brisbane Oct 14

The London leg is purely there because on multi city I can't select Spain>Miami
The Frankfurt landing is flexible to any German city
Madrid is flexible for anywhere in Spain or Portugal

The Total for the other flights comes to around $3215 plus somewhere around $450 for the flights from Miami to Panama City and return.
I've plugged the entire combination in to the OW RTW planner and it's come up around $4800.

You can easily do that entire itinerary on oneworld.

As you've already plugged it into oneworld planner and got a fare, I'm not too sure what you're after.

However, I have a couple of suggestions.

First, you can utilise a total of 16 segments so you've got plenty more stops to fit in yet, if you want to.

Second, avoiding London will assist with keeping taxes low. An option would be MAD-MIA direct on IB. Or MAD-JFK-MIA on IB and/or AA. It's also possible to fly MAD-PTY with IB. This would allow you to avoid 'wasting' a sector by visiting MIA twice.

Third, for the purposes of booking, use the AA codeshare flight numbers trans-Pacific.

Fourth, my understanding is FRA is an expensive airport in terms of taxes. You may wish to avoid this but with the addition of AB to the mix, there are plenty of options.

So, maybe something like this:

BNE-xSYD-(xSIN-)FRA on QF (flights 1 and 2)
FRA-MAD on IB (3)
MAD-PTY on IB (4)
PTY-DCA on AA (5)
DCA-MIA on AA (6)
MIA-LAS on AA (7)
LAS-LAX on AA (8)
LAX-JFK on AA (9)
JFK-SYD on QF (10)
SYD-PER on QF (11)
PER-BNE on QF (12)

And you've still got room to move. You could add in a couple more European cities, for example, or another one in Asia (eg. HKG).

Thanks for your help, I've basically stuck with the original but changed it to suit me. I originally tried something similar to your option but with my short time frame and lowish budget it just didn't fit me.
Thanks again

Have you tried another UK or Euro airport instead of London, they have high taxes and if you are not planning on staying there you could try say Dublin or Paris you might be able to drop this a little?
