Hi All,

I have a booking award booking in December that is part of a status run. I’m a points club plus member.

3 of the connecting flights have been changed and the multi leg booking will need to be changed.

Firstly, will Qantas just change it to an available flight or will they make me rebook flights with award seats available.

Secondly, will they give me status credits for the original legs?

Thank you

Recently I had a booking as two separate flights to get 7+7 status credits, however they changed it to a direct flight and that is what appeared on my FF statement. I had to call up twice, and the second time the operator was able to change it back to the original routing while I was on hold and gave me the 14 credits, rather than the 7 that had just appeared because of the direct routing.

However this makes me wonder about the taxes, as when I booked I would have paid for two flights worth of taxes, and the direct probably would have been half of this.

As to what they will rebook you on, it seems to be luck of the draw, but sometimes it can be a good thing in that they'll rebook you on a flight routing earning more status credits than your original booking. It can be good to checkout the alternative options presented in manage my booking before calling up.

Just to add to this you have to call the Frequent Flyer Team to get the status credits fixed up, I think option 4, then 2, then either 1 or 2 depending on international or domestic on the new and improved call centre line.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Great thank you for your response, very informative. I agree, the taxes would have been cheaper going direct.
