Optus $99/Mth Sim Only Plan - 60,000 Qf Pts

Hi all,

I ordered the sim on Friday, so won’t be able to activate until it arrives in the post. Will this still count for the 60k QF points if I activate later than tomorrow? As I doubt it will arrive before then.

Thanks
The Qantas email in July offer said that the bonus offer applied to customers "adding and activating" up to 11:59PM on 17 July. For a physical SIM, this meant ordering by Thursday 14 July.

The September Qantas email says "adding a new ..." up to 11:59PM (AEST) 5 September 2022.

They appear to have deleted "and activating" and spelt out the time zone.

Earlier posts suggest that you can see confirmation of eligibility via a message on your QFF activity page (like the $50 promo message) once the order is completed and the SIM is active.

P.S. It's auto activation 1 hour after delivery.

Argh what a massive PIA Optus is. Got a text this morning saying “Hi xx_x (not me), we’ve updated your contact details”. A few minutes later a one time pin arrives. 10 minutes later the mobile service stops working.

Spend 2 hours on the phone going around with Optus’ useless staff and finally the 10th person figures out that someone has activated a mobile service, added my number and has attempted to port it away to another provider. Nobody at Optus can seem to figure out what to do.

They’re an absolute joke of a company.

Not disagreeing however wait until you have an similar issue with Telstra. My experience is Telstra are much worse.

Wouldn’t surprise me. I suspect all three are as bad as each other. I do think Telstra has moved everything back onshore which might help. Shame they’ve got no decent roaming options.

I never actually have any issues with Optus as I always (other than for this promo) use our local Optus store who are exceptionally helpful.

I just signed up to migrate from Optus prepaid to PostPaid $99 plan. I used the CashRewards bonus too. I got given a temporary order number for some reason, so we'll see how that goes.

A temporary order number (Txx_xx_xx_xx_xx_) without a phone number means that manual processing is required (possible id conflict, etc.). It's worth contacting Optus to chase up any blockage.

A full order number (xx_xx_xx_A) with a phone number means that the order is ready to have a SIM allocated.

Have we ascertained how many times you can cash in on this promo? I was already an optus customer, then I took up the offer in July, can I take up the offer again in September?

I was going to suggest that this plan could be handy for anyone moving house about now. If they’ve decent 5G reception at home they could use this for the first couple of months for home internet until signing up for an NBN or other plan.

When I have it, my Optus 5G is quite fast but patchy where in the house I can get it - for now.
Was wondering if this would work but have no idea as to how to go about it as between internet providers at present and would be good to use in the meantime - any suggestions as to how to set it up please?

If you have a dual sim phone (ie iPhone with an eSIM), the simple solution would be to sign up to this offer with the eSIM, install it on your phone and then use that as your primary data source. You can then use the phone as a hotspot (ie tether everything else off the phone).

A slightly better option is to have one of those little mobile hotspot devices but they usually have a physical sim and time is against that solution for this offer.

I signed up today.
Gotta use the points on one family trip sometime somewhere.
Well after signing up to this QF Optus offer yesterday, I received a text message saying there's an error & more info is required.
I called the 1800 number it said to call & it hangs up immediately.
Found the 13 39 37...to which the guy told me the offer is not available, it was an error of QF to advertise the offer. He said the offer was in July & it's expired, That many have had this issue. Offer n0ot extended as the recent marketing from QF have sent out.

Well what a basket case, surely QF didn't send our marketing offer that didn't exist??? but maybe they did, lucky I have very low expectations of anything QF related these days so, pfft keep my existin plan, thanks anyway Optus/QF.

That being the case I suppose the $0.01 test payment (by Optus) on my CC is also an error also.

Received the SIM this morning (left in my letterbox). Everything went extremely smoothly, perhaps because I already have an Optus account.

I'll use the new SIM for tethering/hotspot until the points arrive. I have several Android phones, of various ages.

Thank you so much! It's been more than 24h, and I was wondering why they hadn't contacted me yet. I guess they're sales team aren't that keen to close the deal.
