Oneworld showing VA instead of QF on website

It’s in Qantas’ best interests that they remain in oneworld - and they will. But we should not underestimate the power and influence of QR. At the end of the day, the decision QR made to cosy up with VA is deeply provocative and problematic and has the potential to rupture the whole oneworld alliance presence in Australia/Pacific with flow-on effects elsewhere. It also creates a complex dilemma for QF FFs in Australia who use the old QF-QR benefits which are now at risk. Just wait until QF FFs are refused entry into QR lounges even though on paper it’s allowed. Just wait until the QF points earned on QR flights are lower than that of JQ. If this is what QR wants to do, they should be shown the exit from oneworld, and not let the door hit them on the way out.
There are all sorts of anomalies in OW and other alliances. Look how miserable the QF earn on MH is.

As far as QR are concerned, they believe QF is behaving badly by maintaining the EK partnership.

I think you'll find it's QF that decided that earn on QR (and other OW airlines to/from Asia and Europe) most noticeably with SCs is much lower than QF
True that you can't earn QR SCs on QF domestic though

Lmao, QF-EK started in 2012 - two years before QR entered OW. QR should have been aware of the risks that would brew out of Australia before joining OW. They proceeded to join OW and surprise surprise, [screwed] themselves over in Australia and now resort to tantrums with the government, dirty tricks and provocative partnerships with VA.

QF is free to continue the EK partnership for as long as they want because first in, best dressed. If QR, a newcomer, thinks otherwise then they should take the appropriate dose of copium.

But QF also jilted MH at the alter. Sponsored their entry into OW and were about to launch a partnership similar to EK but switch horses at the last minute.

Personally, the EK deal was better than MH (IMHO). As mentioned in other threads, in 20:20 hindsight a QF / QR partnership would be great. But back in 2012, they weren’t even flying here - apart from MEL. The Oz expansion really only happened quite recently. Including flying their own metal between CBR-SYD…

What’s not on is QR instructing oneworld to sideline a founding member of that alliance in favour of its rival.
Oh, the cheek of them! Damn ME upstarts🙄

Send in BA to deal with'em, I say!! That'll learn 'em to trifle with the our National Carrier (TM).

Codeshare with Virgin, foresooth 😡

It was reported again at the time the VA partnership was inked. But bubbling away for several years. eg

Yes, many anomalies with OW airlines. QF had EY but VA pinched them. QF has new arrangements with AF/KL etc

VB (DJ) had EK as an interline partner and early FF redemption partner under Velocity Rewards, then they switched to EY as their codeshare/FF partner when VB became VA.

EK later struck a deal with QF as their codeshare/FF partner.
