With the release of August figures, VA has now beaten QF for most punctual Australian major domestic airline for six of the eight months in 2015:

Notably, on the nation's busiest air route (MEL - SYD - MEL), VA was about two per cent ahead of QF. It does not sound like much but given the significant number of flights each day, it soon adds up to many individual flights.

Of course this does not mean that your or my flight will be 'late' (defined as '15 minutes or more late' - quite a generous margin) and nor does it mean that it will be 'on time', but it makes it hard for QF to continually claim that it beats the competition. In 2015, the facts show that it does not and that VA is managing to get a higher percentage of its aircraft to the arrival gate within the quarter hour margin.

Some routes that are a monopoly (typically smaller routes) are not included.

Going to look for the QF HBA 717 service, now :)

Edit, sorry, the QantasLink HBA 717 service!

Not surprised by the little snippet that PQQ-SYD had the lowest % of on time arrivals at 65.3%

SYD-MEL flights seems to be run a bit differently now to last year, last few flights have always boarded at about T-25 and everyone has been sat down waiting for push back at least 10mins prior to departure time.

Not sure how they've rejigged the process but it seems to be working.
