So in a week we will be on our way on our next trip.Hopefully with the upgrade fairies having smiled before we board QF11.
The flights are a simple DONE4.
BNE-SYD-LAX-DFW-LGA/JFK-HEL-OSL/LHR-HEL-BKK-SYD-BNE.
It will include a lobster and outlet mini road trip in the New England area of LOTFAP.
A few days in Oslo.
Back to back Baltic cruises to give us 5 days in St.Petersburg.
9 days in Cornwall and Devon to visit my family's eponymous village.Plus some time in Padstein.
And our chill out stop in Bangkok on the way home.

As usual there will be a prequel from my recent stays in Kempsey and Armidale.

PS-Not Oslo but Stockholm for a few days.Just another senior moment.

Looking forward to your Baltic observations. Researching that area now.

Hey, I wanted to call this TR

" ✈️ ⛵ ️ "

which translates to "The FLYING/DRIVING/CRUISING/5*STAYING/CHILLING/TR for DRRON + MRSDRRON/ with lots of PHOTOS/and SUNSETS "

but obviously someone thought it was too long ! ;)

Cruising? Baltic cruise then?
mrs.dr.ron, you are either clearly ott excited or have already transitioned to Northern Hemisphere and into the turps.

Cruising part is Stockholm/Copenhagen/Southampton - B2B on the Silver Whisper 22days ( with 5 days in SPB )

We are booked in for a few days in St Petersburg (via Helsinki) next April, so will be interested to follow despite the huge climatic difference we will face.

Checked-in ready to fly! Safe travels!

ps ... mrsdrron, thanks for the advice today!

Since our return from Japan I have worked for a total of 9 weeks at both Kempsey and Armidale.one of the extra benefits of my work is spending more time in an area and getting more of the feel of the place.I also like old buildings and take plenty of photos so first some of Kempsey's buildings-

Kempsey is definitely not a tourist destination nor a place of fine food.I ended up by recommending 2 places. The first is Lou's café-an old milk bar done up and very popular with the locals-

So that is their pork ribs.Definitely not baby backs and not fall of the bone.OK and good sauce. So for reasonable comfort food it would be all right.
The best food was at the Services club on the river.A new chef from Sydney pub scene and the food is very good value.Steaks come as ordered, juicy and tasty.I had a good salmon dish as well and mrsdrron enjoyed the garlic prawns. This was their barrumundi and chips-

If you do take a lunch break here definitely the Sevices club with a post prandial walk along the river bank-a good pathway.

Amazing to think this was a very busy river port with shipbuilding basically where I was in the first picture of the bridge.A few old photos displayed-

Yes, been to Lou's a few times but not since Kempsey was bypassed.

Of course, before rail came to Kempsey (and many other NSW north coast towns), ships were the main form of transport. Hard to imagine that a ship was the the way you got to places like Taree, Grafton and even Lismore!
