Went into the PER QP & went to the service desk to request an ODU, the lounge angel checked & said "that will be 7500 points" Yeah thats fine i said, the angle re printed my boarding pass & it said ODU 7500 points underneath my status, as per usual.

From past experience doing ODU's the points have dedcuted within 15 minutes of the ODU been processed, how ever on this occasion they still have not been dedecuted from my account, its been 3 days now, my points & SC's have been accredited to my account with the upgrade noted.

Have i been lucky with a free upgrade, or can i expect they will get deducted at some point? Anyone else had this experience?

Yep, the QIA (Qantas Intellegency Agency) [please don't point out the oxymoron] will be onto you now as medhead has indicated. Keep an eye out for a non descript bright red car with a large white roo painted on it parked in the shadows in your street, and if you hear an echo on your phone, it's probably an echo in your phone..

Seriously though, don't let anyone in a dark suit with dark sunglasses wearing an ASIC and carrying an umbrella walk behind you in the subway....

Oops, I did say serious didn't I....!

Good on ya for the freebie and I hope many more come your way :)

There are two parts to the transaction:

1. Process the seat change
2. Process the points deduction

Looks like one part of that process has been missed :D

I've had it on occasions in the past. I've thanked my lucky stars and looked forward to the next one ;)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Happened to me last October, flight was upgraded, then flight cancelled points refunded, rebooked for next flight in business by Qf then and points never deducted again. Nice way to finish a holiday.

This is certainly a thread any of the people that put in for the QF lunch or 787 viewings should be posting their experiences in ...

Happened once to myself with an upgrade Bris to Mel. Somehow I forgot to mention it next time I have dealings with QF

This has happened to me once also. A very last minute points upgrade in the lounge and the points were never deducted.

You do realise of course that first thing Monday morning there will be a bulletin to all lounge staff advising them of this issue and to make sure that all upgrades are processed correctly from now on.

Some things are best kept to yourself!
