Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Can I just say I find it assuming that the NZ PM says the following "We are reopening and I'm asking our Australian family and friends to book their tickets."

I can't see many booking until there is a detailed plan of a worse case scenario (aka testing positive). Whilst testing in Australia at 3 major airports is reasonably cheap I've heard of RAT's for travel up to $200 in NZ (and let's not get started on the $500+ same day PCR I've seen in Auckland).

I'm transiting via AKL (AU-AKL-US) about 3 days after the opening to Australian passport holders so hopefully this means a streamline transit process (no transit holding pen) but also the possibility of going land side for a few hours instead of being stuck in an airport.

I’ve found testing for $110 in Wellington with a bit of searching, and imagine with a bit of time competition will well and truly kick in and reduce prices.

That was for PCR not RAT incidentally.

Testing on arrival is currently free. You get given some RATs at the airport. So don't even need to go to a covid testing centre to get them (free) or a supermarket/pharmac_ ($).

Whereas the test to return to Australia is expensive but will come down as more chemists start to offer it.

Currently in NZ and travelling back to Australia shortly. There are a few chemists now offering supervised RAT tests. Had to call around, but found a couple who would do it for $45 if we brought our own tests.

Whats needed is the documentation with the necessary information.

Can you please advise chemist names and locations if you don't mind? I assume in Auckland? Many thanks.

In Wellington, my local Unichem is doing it.
I heard some Chemist warehouses in Auckland are as well. Worth calling around. They all tend to charge slightly less if you bring your own test

The problem I have is that I'm flying out of Wellington the day after Anzac day and pretty sure most chemists will be closed for the holiday so I cant get it 24 hours in advance!

Unichem and Life chemists (both part of the same group). Note this service isn't yet fully rolled out. When I visited my local Unichem the other day they were still trying to get set up to offer this.

Some places may be open in the afternoon on Anzac Day. Otherwise go for a PCR (24 hours for results).

Yes, I'll look around but I do know the after hours chemist does not (at this stage anyway) do RAT tests for overseas travelers. But I agree some may be open, have certainly found somewhere that will do PCR for $115.

NZ Govt announced some changes to CV19 settings this morning.
Including vax passes not needed from 04 April. Vax passes for people from AU would have been chaos. May have had to use hard copy AU printout as AU-NZ QR codes/software not compatible. NZ does not accept overseas vax certificates (hard or soft copies)

Although there is a way, I sent through my international Certificate and they sent me a pass. Now not needed! What I really want if for OZ to remove the need for pre-departure testing for when I come back.

Why stop there? Be good to see NZ scrap testing too!

I'm afraid I wont be travelling to NZ until they get rid of the requirement to test during the stay. Be blowed if I'm going to risk being locked in a hotel for 7 days!
