NYC serviced apartment for family of 5 (April 2013) help needed

Currently have a booking at the Sohotel for an upcoming family holiday.. However I have read some negative reviews in amongst plenty of positive ones..

I was hoping others may be ale to provide some recommendations? Looking for a serviced apartment or similar 2 or 3 bedrooms to fit the 5 of us in. Dates are arrive late night April 13, checkout April 19. Budget is $3,000-4,000..

any advice would be great! Preference to staying in lower manhattan or close by. But is Brooklyn also a good area we could stay in?
