Has anyone stayed at the Novotel Singapore, please?
I have a reservation for the right price but have never stayed there before.
Any comments welcome.
Cheers,
Mike

Yeah, the hotel is good - I stay there by choice when in SIN, make sure you ask for a river view room.
Plenty of good eating and drinking within 5 minutes, very close to MRT - if young at heart, PUMP is good after a drink or two at Highlander (Whiskey bar)

Have a great time

Mr!

Thanks for the reply. Seeing I am going there with my daughter she will have somewhere to go when it is past my bedtime, me being close to sixty and my daughter mid twenties.
Cheers,
Michael

In that case, let her know there are a couple of great dance clubs at the Quay...

Also, if you want a great Portuguese meal, walk along to Robinson Quay - about 5 minutes walk with the river on your left, cut in at the Robinson Quay Hotel and go into the area on the left of the hotel, a heap of restaurants and bars, plus approx 1/2 the price of Clarkes

Thanks, I will definitely tell her about that. My problems are solved. i.e.the answer to "Dad where is there to go around here"?
Cheers,
Michael

I'll respectfully differ. I stayed there 12 months ago and wasn't impressed. I thought the rooms were dated and in need of a bit of work. If I remember correctly there wasn't a fridge in the room either. I was using my Accor Advantage Plus free night so maybe they gave me a bad room because they weren't getting a cent out of me!

I should add, though, I did leave my sunglasses in the lobby and didn't realise until I got back to Australia. I didn't take too much effort to liaise with them (two or three emails and a couple of phone calls) and they were found and posted to me for SGD15.

I stayed there early last year and spent new years eve there about a week ago. I too have an advantage plus card and found my stay there to be good the first time. We were upgraded and the room was huge. However, the bedsheets had a hole in it and it wasn't changed for the duration of our stay. I agree the hotel is a bit outdated too.

The stay a week or so ago was not so good. We stayed in a basic room this time which was what we paid for but we got a room with a faulty shower. We had to request a room change. Again the bedsheets were not perfect. They did not have holes in it but had a stain in it. So too one of the robes.

Another problem was the room service. Tried calling room service, the operator , and the duty manager without anyone picking up the phone. This was not on the night of new years eve. I had to walk down to the front desk to get what I needed. Coincidentally I heard another guest complain to the front desk about the same issue 2 mornings later.

I agree the location is great and is close to bars and shopping.

Overall though, I think the hotel is only okay. Next time I might try a different, newer hotel perhaps on orchard road, though the cost may be a little higher.
