They already seem to wave it, I made a booking last night and wasn't charged the phone assistance fee.

Woo-hoo, loving the new booking fees :D
3 x J seats on CX LAX-HKG 55k miles each and the grand total of $22.79 AUD in taxes. This was booked through the AA Australian call centre number. Minor hiccup when I discovered that there was a letter missing from the christian name of one of the passengers. The Australian call centre wanted to cancel the entire reservation and re-book  :!: I said thanks but no thanks, I'll sort it out later. Now just to wait for it to ticket :)

I got charged phone booking fee post-announcement. What's the best way to recover this?

I almost booked an MH flight using AA miles last week and they were going to charge the phone booking fee...

I think the removal of the fee is great, but what's the point if it is not implemented?

I'll be the first to be useful:
Ring and ask for it to be refunded.
Or query it and then ask, "oh I thought those were being waived now?"

So with this fee waiver, does it make any difference anymore between ring the US and the Australian/Fijian call centres? If you ring Aus just get charged in AUD?

It'd be nice not to get my El segundo postcode questioned. Why yes of course my address is in... Maine...?

Sorry to revive an old thread...but is this fee waiver still in place?

The Oz call centre wants to charge me 90AUD for 2 x awards that could not be booked on aa.com. I need to pay today before they go off hold...can anyone confirm?

Thanks

See https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/redeemMiles/award-travel.jsp
which says
"The AA Reservations Ticketing Service Charge will be waived for all members redeeming miles for awards that cannot be booked on aa.com"

Thanks. Sorted it out in the end...different operator, different result.
