No more platinum lounge benefit at Sofitel Melbourne, Sofitel Brisbane and Sydney

Sad that there is no longer any platinum lounge benefit at Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney as per the benefits website.

"ACCESS TO EXECUTIVE LOUNGE

Upon request and subject to availability on arrival at the hotel, if existing (except Sofitel Melbourne, Sofitel Brisbane and Sydney)."

I thought this was extended for Sydney until the end of Dec 2015?

I'm staying at the Sofitel Sydney next week, I called them last week to confirm they indeed provide lounge access for Platinum and they confirmed that's going to be the case until December 31st...

I just emailed the hotel today and they said they provide lounge access for Plat till the end of the year.
Strange how their booking portal also says specifically no lounge access for platinums.


Has anyone used the Stay Plus benefit here? There's only 'Stay Plus with Upgrade' offered currently, ie they want around $40-$80AUD

I used my free night at the Sofitel Sydney earlier this year, they had the basic room available for free but I ended up paying an additional $100 or thereabout to upgrade to Club room as I wanted lounge access...

We chose breakfast downstairs as it was included in the price but attended the evening drinks and canapes the night before which were absolutely outstanding as was the service itself. Highly rated !
We have rooms booked again in January at $108 / night which put simply is an amazing rate for what is on offer (Once again that includes b/fast for 2 in the restaurant) even if they have taken the bar away by then lol !

We did get a room upgrade as recognition of Platinum status but don't think it was to club lounge floor and also received drinks vouchers ,fruit platter and bottled water in room (certainly no more money paid over )

the reason I'm asking is that I'm using the free night but it needs a supplement of $80 to a LUXURY ROOM, 1 King Size Bed, Upper Floors, Garden Courtyard view room rather than it being outright free. I'm wondering if there's a good chance they would upgrade from that or just keep that.

Stayed at BNE on 11th December and then again last Friday 18th December and received upgrade to Club Room and lounge access both times. No change for me. (as platinum)

Club level is not part of the Platinum upgrade.
If you're book a deluxe room then they give you a higher floor or a suite with no Club access.
If you book a club room then then they might upgrade you to a better club level room. Upon availability tho

I'm surprised that you guys managed to get club access!!

I'm Platinum with Accor too and it annoys me how Sofitel in Australia is the only country where we don't get access to the lounge.

Sofitels elsewhere in the world do, even Pullman grant you lounge access.
Same as all other big hotel chains do too... Hilton for example.

We stopped fighting with Sofitels ages ago but I'm going to try my luck again...

Here is a ready reckoner. As a platinum:

• Brisbane - Upgrade to Club access available
• Sydney - Upgrade Club Access available as a trial to 31 Dec
• Melbourne - No upgrade

I'm surprised and glad at the same time.
I spent 50+ night with Accor per year and probably 10+ of them at Sofitels.
I love the Sofitel bed but got frustrated with the lack of club access so stopped asking for it. This happened over the last 2 years in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and recently at the Sofitel Gold Coast.
