Hi,

I am looking for suggestions to a western / international restaurant for a fine dining experience (say AUD $100-$200 pp), preferably a degustations style menu.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

A few years back my wife and I enjoyed an Orphan's Christmas in HK and had the most memorable meal at the Mandarin Oriental. (I think there are two - this is the one with no harbour views)

Bottomless glass of Veuve Clicquot, superb English lunch prepared by a German Chef and a glass walled dessert ROOM - every conceivable dessert you have ever desired without limits - chocolate fountains in three shades, puddings, ice cream, tarts, tortes - the whole orchestra.

Friends have mentioned something similar at a Mandarin on Sentosa Island is the usual for Sunday brunch so maybe it's a M.O. thing?

The maître 'd, Guillaume was fantastic and memorable so I'd reckon his restaurant is pretty good any time of the year - try it.

I dined at The Peak Lookout (no guesses as to the location) in December which was fantastic - comprehensive menu to a high quality. Fresh seafood, great meat (NZ lamb, US and Australian steak), and also very good Tandoori. You get a nice view of Aberdeen on the deck in summer too.

Was that "Pearl"?

We dined there some years ago - really nice food. :)

It is a sibling to the "Pearl" restaurant in Richmond, Victoria.

I can definitely recommend Amber at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental.

it has some great degustation menus, be sure to ask the waiter as they have some variants not on the printed menu.

Last time i was there we couldn't even finish all the course (mainly due to the large amounts of champers)

It also has been awarded Two Michelin stars.
