Hellooo, yes I am a newbie.. have read a little on the site but to be honest it is a bit overwhelming hehe. Prevail, I will!

We are about to start travelling as often as we can, so I found this gem of a website..

Currently we are Qantas frequent flyers.. nb I think it is? nuffin status.. which made me giggle.

I am about to go to Bali (yup just like everyone else ha) but also flying to Gold Coast from Perth in July and again we travel later on the year.

Kids are frequent flyers also..

I see there is a deal for the Qantas lounge at the moment.. is it worth it? $590 (from memory)

cheers and I look forward to learning heaps about flying.. :)

Welcome aboard highland, percivear - it will be worth the effort

Welcome highland. As for the QANTAS Club membership, always a matter of personal choice. If you are unlikely to be flying at the pointy end, then it is a good way to gain lounge access for QF (and some) JQ flights. I have had it for years, as work pays part, but expect I won't keep it up much longer. That is because we have been flying a lot of OW "J" so get lounge access, and using points for J on domestic, so get QF Lounge here. So you need to think about how much use the little red card will get before you leap.

Welcome, highland. Keep an eye out for social events - most people think they would be out of place and don't go - but anyone who has gone for the first time, regrets not going to one earlier!! (Especially if you like a decent glass of wine, or two).

I also recommend the Ask the Pilot thread. Fascinating and informative.

Yes I see what you mean... hopefully will be flying more so maybe the way to go down the track.. in the meantime, can you get lounge access as a one off? my stressed out friend and I are going to Bali on Wednesday, would love to get her in the lounge as we are in Perth ( I live down South so have to go early) for hours.. cheers.

Thanks for your reply.. what do you mean by "social events" may need an example.. (obviously I am blonde haha)

This is where they are posted (and appear on the daily threads of course). Here.

Range from quickly arranged dinners, to wine tours that need booking, to annual meetings, casual drinks, wine tastings, lounge meet-ups (even international lounge crawls!!).

OK, in Burekup you may not want to attend the MEL steak night, but there is the annual 'do' heading to Perth later this year, and the Sandgropers amongst us aren't shy in organising a meet-up!

Awesome! thanks... lol re Burekup.. yeah not quite the social gathering.. maybe at the local country club haha
