New Velocity Cards

It gets a little confusing with the different types of card, can anyone please confirm:

1) The new design is available on a non-global-wallet card (and if it shows 'Virgin Australia')?

2) The new design is available on a global-wallet card (and if it shows 'Virgin Australia')?


I'd be tempted to request a new card just for the 'Virgin Australia' text, as I've run in to a few issues in the past where my card wasn't immediately accepted. I just want to check the type of card (I'd probably prefer the global wallet version) before I make the request.

I think that the non-global wallet is shown in the first posts picture but I don't think anyone has confirmed the global wallet card and if it has even been updated yet

Thank you! I was going by the thinking that unless the poster explicitly says if it is/isn't a global-wallet version you can't determine if the card is a global-wallet version without seeing a photo of both sides (and this kind of photo is of course something I'd never actually ask anyone to post!)

I ordered a new one for hubby and IM expecting a Global Wallet version so will post pics if thats what arrives

I can confirm that I received my new global wallet card and it has the new design and shows "Virgin Australia".

That's interesting - when did you receive your card? They must have started rolling out the new design after late October/early November, when Mr Jurahn received his new Global Wallet Gold card. I should encourage him to opt out of the GW card (which he never uses anyway) so that they send him out a new card which will finally have "Virgin Australia" on it!

I received a non-global wallet Platinum card in mid November and it was the old style. So not sure if one came first but the switchover was most likely in December for both types.

I received my gold card last week and it's still the old style. I opted out of GW about 2 years ago.

We know the platinum cards are the new design, perhaps the Velocity rep can clarify when the other tier cards, with the new design will be released.

Hit Platinum late October but didn't receive my card until 23rd of November.

I received my gold card last week and it's still the old style. I opted out of GW about 2 years ago.

We know the platinum cards are the new design, perhaps the Velocity rep can clarify when the other tier cards, with the new design will be released.

I asked lounge staff and they said that there is not time estimate to release them for Gold and Silver.. I'd be curious if they have updated The Club cards as well yet

I can confirm that I received my new global wallet card and it has the new design and shows "Virgin Australia".

That is good news and certainly an improvement!

I might actually use global wallet now if the cards truly say Virgin Australia and not just Velocity

Received Gold card (non-GW version) today and although there are a few minor differences (size of text, spacing in member number etc) it is the old style card. Can confirm it has Virgin Australia logo on the front too

Maybe, but VA would manage Club lounge membership cards where as VFF manages Velocity membership cards.

Interesting change - I'm SG and need a new card as we came out of Parental Leave Pause early Dec (so card expiry was a few days ago). With no immediate travel on the radar I may hold off requesting a new card until it is known if/when the new design will be rolled out to SG

Hubby got his replacement WP card with Global Wallet.

I can confirm new layout on the front, Global Wallet on the back with to be activated sticker on it

Received new card / bag tags today...all very impressive design. The weight of the new bag tags is a winner as well.

On a side note - my letters with the bag tags had a random member number as reported above. My actual card had my number however.

Yeah got the new ones. Like the new card. Luggage tags alright, they seem nice. I didn't mind the old ones though.
