After months of wear and tear on my EDR Mastercard it finally cracked and I had to order a replacement. Arrived in the mail yesterday and after reading through the activation details I've noticed an additional paragraph that reads:

"We're also pleased to advise that you're one of the first cardholders to receive our new silver card design. In recognition, we'll be kick starting your points balance with a bonus 1,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points."

No cost to replace the card and a free 1,000 points.

Get in quick. :)

Its not guaranteed that you'll get the new card - my partner got a new card (new application) issued on the 10th (so after the OP's), it was the older style card.

I am doing a 'controlled trial': applied for replacement for self, and enrolled Master Sunburnt as a new member today:p

I can confirm that I have received the 1,000 bonus points.

looks like if you have the orange card, and now request the "silver" card then it will cost you, best to tell them you lost your card and cross your fingers they send you a silver one if that's what you want, since requesting a new card this way is still free once per year...

Important information about your Woolworths Qantas credit card.Effective from 1st July 2012, the Schedule on your Woolworths Qantas credit card will be updated as follows;
• The card replacement charge will be payable each time we replace a lost or stolen card (excluding the first
replacement each year), or when you request us to reissue you with a different coloured card ($20).

My card was broken, requested replacement and received another orange card. I am not sure on what basis the decision is made for orange and silver cards.

I got the new card - silver, requested a secondary card for Mrs VC - orange (with "platinum" printed on it, lol)

For clarification, are we talking about the EDR card or the EMC credit card?

I am guessing from the OP its the CC. I guess this thread should probably be in the CC sub forum?
