Something that will be of interest to everyone is that PER has opened a new outdoor viewing deck late yesterday (Friday local).

Saturday was it's first full day on the job, and I must say I've been pretty impressed by it.

Have done a TR-like write up on the new facility, which is available from my member blog. If you'd ever like someone with in-depth knowledge of the airport to join you out there then please don't hesitate to drop me a line and ask.

Also had the pleasure of meeting Geoffrey Thomas - who you might know as the Aviation Editor for The West Australian, as well as Chief Editor for Air Transport World and a contributor to Australian Aviation magazine. We chanced upon Geoffrey just as we arrived and he was about to leave.

We had a great 15min chat, exchanged cards as he wanted to keep in touch, and unexpectedly gifted both myself and friend tangof1 (an infrequent AFF posted, more lurker than anything) whom was with me a personally signed copy of the comedy cartoon book he co-wrote, Passengers who make your life hell. Quite apt given recent discussion around here about foul mouthed phone users in the QP and many other nasty pax and their behaviours encountered en route. :D

Photos of the deck to follow, recovering from some significant sunburn on account of my own forgetfulness and stupidity.

We shared a lost luggage problem at Sydney airport on a simple PER-SYD QF flight. Our luggage went to the international terminal somehow so we were both left wondering how correctly tagged luggage could go in the wrong direction.
Thanks for the post on the viewing deck....that would have been better than our drive last night to see the new Masters store under construction along Ranford road past Canning Vale.

Sounds great, will have to take a look sometime in the near future.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I was wondering what was going on there when I went past in the taxi on Friday morning. I'm thinking that particular road is going to become the new waiting area for those who are waiting to pick up people from the airport, unless of course some killjoy has already put "No Standing" signs up.

Perth airport now has a gold coin parking lot so instead of parking along the side of an entry road you can now be legal for one dollar then go and pick up when you get the call. Make sure you have a one dollar coin or you may get in by paying double with a two dollar coin.
The new viewing deck is a really good idea and this thread is what alerted me to it's opening.
Perth airport is a bit of a zoo but we appreciate these two innovations.

Just updated the article with the link to my photos. You can view the slideshow online at:

A couple of quick shots here to show the facility off:

I've refrained from including plane shots, simply because I'm still sorting through them to find the ones I like.
