Qantas operated LAX First/oneworld lounges at TBIT

So I wonder what alternate arrangements they make for an 18-21yo F passenger traveling alone? If denying lounge access, would they be told to just go wait at the gate with everyone else who does not qualify for lounge access? Would they be given some form of a voucher to buy a burger/coke in the terminal? Or asked to sit outside the door and have a staff member bring them some food? Be permitted to stand at the door and use lounge WiFi services?

Will be interesting to see if a lounge invitation is provided at F check-in, and how well the staff handle the situation when presenting F boarding pass at the lounge door. I will try to obtain an official ruling from various sources before the travel date.

How many of those do you think there are?

Where liquor is available in an establishment, the visitors either have to be of the local legal drinking age, or the liquor locked away and served by staff subject to local laws relating to service of alcohol.
Admirals Clubs have bar tenders and liquor is served by the bar tender.

The QF J lounge also has bartenders now (don't know about F, but it looks like it).

Wonder if that makes a difference here?

So does an 18yo feel like a mug in Vegas?

If I was 18, and travelling F, I'd be pretty unhappy treated like a child OR a mug by Qantas. There's a bar (in J lounge, probably in the F lounge). Don't serve the under 21. Just like any other bar in the US, where there are heaps of kids.

As I said previously, in 2012 Miss FM travelled unaccompanied in F, when she was less than 21, she had no trouble accessing either the Flagship lounge in T4 or the F lounge in TBIT. It didn't even occur to me that she wouldn't be allowed to enter the TBIT lounge, but I did wonder about the Flagship. Both flagship and the TBIT lounge were self service at the time. I suspect unless you look quite young they don't check ages - of course you can always get a diligent person.....

In this case the operating airline is JAL, and the flight departs 12:05pm. The QF F Lounge will only open at 10:30. So prior to that time, the OneWorld Los Angles lounge would be the available lounge for the JAL passengers. I have specifically requested information from JAL as to lounge availability for their F passengers, and specifically any access restrictions for 18-21 year olds. Will see how they reply. Otherwise I suspect its a matter of just turn up and see. No intention or desire for any alcohol consumption, just food, soft drink/juice, WiFi and a comfortable place to relax.

The discussion of the "18 y.o. F pax" reminds me of the story a few months back of 17 y.o. Masie Williams(think that's her name) - who is an actor on Games of Thrones going all a twitter because BA refused her access to the lounge.....

Re: QF LAX F lounge opens - TBIT

Just been there
1. quite spacious with low number of pax
2. Very friendly staff, but that was preceded by him telling me i couldn't go in as i was in J.
3. Our toddler got a tea set toy
4. Food was pretty good but not as good as sydney
5. Some options on the menu were not available, and i was told was never available, not sure why it was on the menu (although lounge only been open for < 1 week)
6. Showers were ok, reminded me of a hospital.
7. Ate on the lounge chairs, very comfortable.
8. Much better than previous LAX F lounge IMHO

I used the LAX lounge at Tom Bradley on 21st December 2014. I was very disappointed. The noise level was high and as more people came in the background music got louder and louder. When I commented to the service desk they said it was because they were sharing with the First Class Lounge. I felt that all that was missing was the disco ball hanging from the ceiling :). In the end I had to go out into the concourse the be able to have a phone conversation. When I was there it was hardly the haven one expects to find in a busy airport. Hopefully the additional spaces coming in 2015 will restore the sanity.

That's surprising. So Platinum FF and passengers connecting in F from MEL/SYD cannot use the F lounge when heading to JFK?

I can confirm the F lounge was open for QF107 LAX-JFK. QF107 is no longer the first flight of the day ex-LAX - CX897 is now the first flight (their check in opens at 4:35am!).

The starter was really nice ... but the Sea Bass was to die for! Perfectly cooked (glistening opague in the middle), great fresh flavor - even the garnish salad was delicious with a subtle kick.

Also had garlic infused mushrooms as a side - very good but a little overpowering for what I ordered - but that's my issue.
