Hi all, as reported by OMAAT the new Kimpton secret password is "no shade". Just in time for my stay at Kimpton Fitzroy next month: "I find it quite warm in London this time of year; it's a shame there's no shade nearby".

I just read on Flyertalk that apparently as of November 2022 they don't do secret passwords, so might as well just pay an extra $3 and stay at IC Sydney where I can avail my IC Ambassador benefits i.e. $25 food and beverage credit

Edit: I just called up to ask because slow day at work; apparently they do. Hmm. I've stayed at both before (but not as a Diamond Elite at Margot); guess I'll try them again and see how things go!

I stayed at Kimpton Margot earlier this month. After providing the secret password I was told two hot chocolates would be delivered to the room.
What a joke… at our preferred time 2 x cups on saucers with 2 marshmallows on each arrived but to our surprise each cup contained chocolate powder mix and we had to boil the kettle ourselves !
I received the following reply after completing the post-stay survey:
“The program had just kicked off and unfortunately the team were a bit underprepared. This certainly was a learning lesson for us, and we have since gone out and purchased a much more elevated product for our hot chocolate complimentary offering. Your feedback was very helpful though and instrumental in making this change.”

Oh dear! Wish I saw this before going all out and going non-refundable on it last night haha could live without that! Oh well. I haven't stayed there before as a Diamond Elite so I guess I can see how it's different compared to no status when I last stayed there

I used Kimpton Secret Password in Dec 22 on Kimpton Fisherman's Wharf, and got F&B $25 USD credit + chocolate packs, and Kimpton Angler's Hotel at Miami, and got $50USD F&B credit after spinning the prize wheel (by the kids) 3 times!

Kimpton Sydney is also mean with breakfast. For Diamonds and included breakfast rates you are told you can select the $40 menu -
* one of either fruit salad OR granola with yoghurt OR a croissant
* one of the hot options
* juice and barista coffee

There is no buffet

Prepare to be disappointed. I got a couple of lollies a year or so ago. What's that worth? 10c? Certainly less value than the time and effort remembering and reciting the password.

Following up on Fifa's experience at the Kimpton Margot:

I tried saying 'I love how the hotel pool has no shade' but apparently that was too subtle as the receptionist said the hotel pool was closed so had to point out I was trying to use the Kimpton Secret Password ...

Still two large cups on saucers with marshmallows (despite it just being myself staying), but they did purchase a 'more elevated product': the hot chocolate is now from the same local chocolate shop that supplies the minibar chocolates (Hot Chocolate Sticks – Adora Handmade Chocolates). The gentleman who delivered my hot chocolate encouraged me to keep the other block for later after I said I didn't need two cups and went away with the other cup of hot milk. To answer my earlier question, no you don't get to keep the cups and saucers.

Someone in an IHG One Rewards Facebook group I'm in said they received a bottle of wine when they stayed there at the end of May. The hot chocolate was indeed nice, but I'd rather that bottle of wine haha

The password is only in effect during Summer and Winter. No passwords for Spring and "Fall"

Yep, that's what I found online. I was hoping for the unhopeable. We'll probably bail to the CP. We stayed at the Margot in Feb w our dog. It was a last-minute, mid-week thing and so I had to pay for the most expensive room that wasn't a suite. We received a bottle of sunblock as our password 'reward' and weren't upgraded (the classic "no availability, sir" even though you could book the suites on the app). The CP upgraded us to a suite *weeks* ago (I'm Diamond Ambassador). Even the IC is cheaper and, as you've remarked before, you get to use your Amb credit (plus a guaranteed upgrade)! So we're still sitting w an King Bed Essential at the Margot with lots of availability and no upgrade. I don't geddit. We did the 'wine mingle' thing last time but it's not enough for me to gamble a confirmed upgrade for a glass of NZ sauv blanc.
