Hi all I just joined this wonderfully gorgeous forum as a member -finally - after reading it for a while.

I traveled 40 countries around the world and ended up in Australia for a holiday some months ago. I now found a new job in consulting and have to fly from Melbourne to Sydney or Brisbane quite often. Sometimes twice a week.

My company has just switched from Virgin to Qantas. So I assume I will have to sign up with them for a new membership. Goodbye Velocity..

Also, I want to go to Europe for Christmas (just a week) and am looking for some cheap deals. So far I found a return fare Melbourne-Venice for $1800 (Economy) and am thinking to ask Flight Centre to match it. I know you guys hate FC..but would you recommend it for beating this price? :D

Thanks heaps and happy travels!!

Thanks a lot guys!! I feel very welcome :D

I did join everydayrewards and got the Qantas FF free of charge!! Great tip!

Now I am about to fly 30,000 miles (return flight to Europe) with Qatar for a crazy good price. Should I get their FF program as well?

This is a freq flyer site and you ask if you should get ff miles for an up coming flight ?
Here on AFF not getting miles is a horrendous crime :p :)

Yes: sign up if you costs you nothing. But check if your fare class / fare bucket earns miles. What class of travel ?
Also check if could get miles on another program (partner) when flying Qatar, that may be of more use to you in the future

These airline partners earn QR miles
http://www.qatarairways.com/global/en/privilege-club-partner-airlines.page
United now not a partner. And BMI is now BA
Often , but not always the same partner let you earn there miles on QR

But 1 trip is not frequent flying

Class Y+K so it'll be something between 70 and 100% of miles.

But you're right, one flight is not frequent flying. I don't see a price in the T&C; is there a price for getting a Privilege Club card with Qatar?

..Sorry for the naive questions-- I am new :oops::oops::D
