I was on a new 737 last night - didn't get the registration, but was told it was put into service only earlier that day after coming in from Seattle in the morning.

I had an aisle seat in Row 3 (first row of Economy). There was an enormous amount of legroom - I reckon even more than the 37 inches in the second row of Business class. The leather seats were comfortable and I didn't find the seat as hard as I sometimes found the "older" ones. The divider (it's not reallya bulkhead is it, if it doesn't extend to the roofline?) between Business and Economy was angled at the base and provided a nice little footrest.

The upswept overhead lockers made the cabin feel a lot more spacious than a 737 usually feels and it didn't seem to compromise on locker space at all. The lighting was interesting - personally I thought it was a bit of a novelty, but my colleagues thought the transition lighting was great.

The only issue was that my colleague travelling in 3F couldn't see the safety demonstration because of the position of the divider between Business and Economy. Given how regularly she flies she wasn't particularly fussed, but I suspect if the FA stood a pace further forward the view wouldn't be compromised from Row 1 yet would allow better visibility from 3A and 3F.

Can you confirm what airline that was, please?

Looks like I'm not the only one now....:p

It's a very nice aircraft. Just brings a little spark back to travel... For now.

Is the new 737 flying specific routes? Or is it just a matter of where it ends up on a roster-type thing on a particular day?

It does sound similar. I'm not a fan of Virgin America's MCS. Their 1st (business) class is impressive though.

I didn't mind the leg room the MCS had when I used it, I was comfortable enough, but you are right I was quite envious of their business class. Especially coming off a 14 hour flight onto a 6 hour one

I flew the business class on a LAX to Seattle trip and it was very, very, very good. Could not speak highly enough of it. 2 hours of bliss both ways.
Same deal as you with the MCS. MEL to LAX on V Australia and then LAX to JFK in MCS on Virgin America. Wasn't that impressed at all, but let's face it, after a 14 hour flight(even in Y+), the last thing you want to do is do another 5 hours in the air.

I flew VX F from BOS-LAX. Probably the best domestic flight i've had in the states.

The fact that they sold it to me as an on demand upgrade 6 hours before the flight for an extra few hundred bucks was even better! I would love if VA adopted the same system!
