Not sure if anyone else has seen or read anything about this. The Öresund Bridge between Sweden (Malmö) and Denmark (Copenhagen), which you may have seen in the amazing TV series The Bridge.

Passport checks have been introduced for the first time for those crossing over, because of the migrant crisis in Europe. Could have an impact for travellers and somewhat symbolic.

What do people think?

I lived in Southern Sweden afew years ago and used to frequently get the Öresundståg (the train that goes over the bridge) over to Copenhagen for sightseeing and as CPH is the main airport for Southern Sweden. I didnt like to take my passport with me when I went to Copenhagen city area or other parts of Denmark, incase it got lost, but now you would have to take it with you and will have some extra delays.

First (and OT) – agreed, the TV show (aka Bron/Broen) is amazing. Third season is just starting now here in Australia. Very excited to binge. I've missed Saga.

Second, I left CPH the day after this began and it was all over the EU news. Both practically and symbolically important for the Union.

For locals, it's obviously not a big deal to enter Sweden/Denmark to go work (kind of like crossing a state border to go to work here in Australia), so to add that extra step every single day is pretty inconvenient. Particularly because train pax have to get off their train and on to a new one so that they can clear passport control.

The whole concept is rather foreign to our huge island!

Just enjoyed a great week in Norway... the locals we spoke to didn't have much to say about Sweden and their open door policy. Looks like this new policy/view/attitude is sweeping across the Western world.

Sweden is a nation committing national suicide. It makes sense that Denmark would want to protect itself from Sweden's crazy pro-rape immigration policies.

The Swedish/Danish border has been free movement long before the EU. So it is a big step.

I was talking to a Swedish friend he was saying he was checked at CPH train station after a flight and that it was 'only an extra 10 minutes', but Swedes can be very accepting of rules and laws, as they like everything to run in good order. So he might be understating the delay/process.
